Your mentality is your thought pattern, your way of thinking, your perception of yourself. You are the product of your thoughts.
When you consider and reflect on the way of the eagle and the lifestyle of the eagle which we have considered before now, you will easily gain understanding about the way the eagle thinks.
Deut. 28: 29 describes the eagle as a swift bird, in other words the eagle does not just fly high, it flies fast, it is not a sluggish bird, and when it flies it does not flap its wings in the wind rather it soars riding on the waves provided by the wind. These attributes of the eagle says one thing about the eagle which is that the eagle is a confident bird. The attribute of confidence is one that is necessary to achieve desired heights in life and it is an attribute that every child of God is entitled to have, it is one of their distinguishing marks as God’s children. How would David have volunteered to confront Goliath if he did not have this attribute and if he had not confronted Goliath and defeated him how would he have gained that rapid promotion to the top in Saul’s army and also gained influence and respect quickly among the people?
The fact that the eagle is a high flyer in indicative of a dominating mentality. The eagle likes to be in control, it preys on other birds but does not want other birds to prey on it so it flies so high above the plane where other birds fly and also makes and settles its nest on heights that is not easily accessible to other birds. God created man to dominate, to be in control of other things that He made (Gen. 1: 28), unfortunately however what we see today is that these other creations of God are the ones exercising dominance and control over man. This half of the year things will not control you, rather God will cause you to control things in Jesus name.
It has also been said that the eagle does not feed on dead animals, they feed only on fresh prey. In the same way we are not to rely on our past success, rather we should be looking forward to breaking new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past and focus on the future. You may have heard it said before that past performance does determine future performance.
You cannot be right, when your mentality is wrong, the people of Israel got it wrong when they began to see themselves as grasshoppers and the Canaanites as giants. That is a very wrong mentality and especially for a people with whom God’s presence is not in doubt, that is really unfortunate. No wonder God rose against them the way He did. Do not go through life with the mentality of the grasshopper because you are much more than that, you are a giant, full of God’s might to dominate your world. Go therefore in this your might and rule your world. Shalom.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, please cure me of every wrong thinking pattern that set my life backward in Jesus name
2. Father, please fill me with the confidence necessary for me to attain my heights in life in Jesus name
3. Father in this second half of this year, I gain control over everything that has controlled me in the first half of this year in Jesus name.
4. Father I reject the grasshopper mentality in Jesus name, I claim my position as a giant and with the abundance of your might upon my life, I rule my world in Jesus name.
5. Father, I break the barrier of old success stories in my life and in this second half of the year I move to higher level of success in Jesus name.
