The eagle has a caring act towards its young and this likens to how God takes care of His children, the Israelites and this also is applicable to all children of God today. Our God is a loving and a caring God, He always looks out for His own children, to protect, preserve and provide for them. We saw how God took the responsibility upon himself to care and provide for the Israelites as they journeyed to the Promised Land. For food, he provided manna for them, later when they complained that the food was monotonous he provided quail, when they complained of thirst, He provided water for them, infact the Lord took care of them in the wilderness so much that Moses said concerning them.
When we study the lifestyle of the eagle a little further, we learn that Eagles fly alone or with their own kind. The lesson for us here is that we should seek to associate with people who are of the same faith with us. This is important because unbelievers do not live by Christian values, they do not live a life of obedience or submission to God, they are more likely to be led or inspired by either the flesh or the devil than God and so they will end up being a bad influence on us as Christians. There are some of us who will have been better Christians today if not for the bad or negative influence of the unbelievers that we closely associate with. So it is very important the company we keep, it is better to emulate the eagle and fly or walk alone rather than walk with people that will be a negative influence on us, thereby creating all manner of problems for us.
Furthermore, the eagle tests the level of commitment before engagement. Before entering into a commitment, the female eagle tests her male suitors to establish his level of commitment. This teaches us never to commit ourselves to people whose commitment to us is doubtful. This is also true in our relationship with God, if God we are not committed to God, then God will not commit himself to us – As a youth, do not commit your future to anyone for a marriage relationship when you do not see enough or convincing proof that the person is equally committed to you. One sided relationships usually end up in pain and agony and can be traumatising for the victim. Like the eagle always test commitment before committing yourself to anybody and this applicable for all areas of life not only in the area of marriage alone. It is wise to ascertain the commitment of people we intend to partner with. This is true in our personal as well as professional lives. This will help a great deal to establish trust in the relationship and establishing trust is important in relationships.
So by way of summary, develop and maintain the qualities discussed above and you will discover that you have positioned yourself on the path of developing and maintaining godly and healthy relationships wherever you find yourself. Shalom
