Read and remain blessed

Text: Genesis 46:31-34

As the famine in the land of Canaan and Egypt grew worse in those days, Joseph asked his brothers to bring his father, their entire household, their flocks and herds to the land of Egypt so that he could provide for them. Jacob and his entire household moved to Egypt but there was a problem. The problem was that every shepherd was an abomination to the Egyptians and Jacob and his sons were shepherds. However, Joseph decided to go and make their identity as shepherds known to Pharaoh. He also charged his people to do the same when they were brought before Pharaoh. Having made their identities known from the beginning, Pharaoh and the people of Egypt had no other option than to accept them.

Today, people are known for different identities depending on where they find themselves. This shouldn't be so for a child of God. Some Christians decide to hide their identity in order to be accepted by unbelievers, for them to get certain favours and to avoid criticism and every other thing that comes with it. Your identity as God's child must not be hidden for whatever reason and like Joseph and his house did, it must be established first wherever you find yourself. It saves one from embarrassments and unnecessary troubles. When your identity as God's child is known, people will be careful of the things they ask you to do because they know your stand. Don't be afraid to lose that job, contract, relationship or favour because you are a Christian. If it's the will of God for you to get it, you will get it as Jacob and his household were not sent out of Egypt even though they were considered extremely offensive. Instead, they were given the land of Goshen which was the best land in Egypt (Gen 47:6) because of their occupation. That is what God will do for you if you are not ashamed of Him. Refuse to be lost in the crowd today and take your place like a city set on the hills that cannot be hidden.

Shalom
