While growing up, we were all made to believe that a man should approach a woman. It seems like the proper thing to do because it shows he is truly interested in her. Right? Yeah.
However, it’s 2021 and times have really changed. With every passing day, more women are beginning to shoot their shots. For a long time I thought that would make such a lady appear desperate. But overtime, I have realized that this may not be the case.
I have actually been in positions where I had to shoot my shot. Lol. I didn't think it was a desperate move. I mean, I liked these men, and I did the needful. However, I knew what I was getting into and I was ready for it.
Having said that, you'd understand that shooting shots isn't just about the initial 'chyking'. You know, the "I think I like you" and the "Do you have time this evening?" Etc. There's more to it.
Here's what you need to do before taking that step.
Firstly, see how much you can learn about that man. Try to be friends with him first. Just check him out to make sure he's what you want so you don't waste your time and effort on a... Well, someone who isn't worth it.
Gauge his maturity and responsibility. This will determine his reactions. You don't want to be embarrassed or seen as desperate or even taken for granted. Don't shoot shots at small boys or boys who are still interested in conquering a long list of ladies! Make sure he has a level of respect for you or at least, respect for women generally. This is important.
Make your intentions clear. Don't play around with words and expect the young man to get it. Giving him green light isn't enough anymore. If you want him, open your mouth and tell him!
Make sure you have something to offer. Most times, the men we want may be far out of our leagues. I won't ask you not to still try but you need to ensure that you are bringing something to the table. How smart are you? What are you doing for yourself? How much can you support him and his vision? Make sure you are not just a fine face, b**bs and a** and nothing else.
So after considering all these points, I think you are ready to shoot that shot. That young man who is taking forever to ask you out, stop waiting for him and take that bold step. If it doesn't work out, try the next guy, and the next. You never know, you might find your Mr. Right. Best of luck sister!
