The fear of the unknown. Are we afraid of something we do not know? Or afraid of knowing something that we do not know? It is either we are afraid because we are ignorant by it, or afraid to know what it is because we may be frightened by what might learn. Which is which?

The first thing I asked to myself when I heard the phrase, "The fear of the unknown", the question that pops out to my mind is that, are we afraid because we are ignorant? Or we are afraid because we are uncertain of what we would learn. It is like we are having anxiety of what comes after. Honestly, the fear we felt from the unknown is like the fear we felt when the score of our exams were released. We are uncertain and afraid of what would be our score, we fear that our score will disappoint us and the difference between the fear of the unknown and knowing our score is that we are not that afraid to know our score, when we are confident that we ace the exam, we are not that afraid but when we go back to the fear of the unknown, we could not be that confident to know what is the unknown.

To sum it up, the fear of the unknown differs from each of us as we have different perspectives and philosophy but for me, what I feared the most is knowing what is the unknown and not the thought of not knowing the unknown.
