The Joy of Poetry
WHERE?
Where, where do I check?
Get off the deck
Receive a 360 degrees neck
Then make the rotation
Let the eyes feed on the nation
There, you see a class;
A class without class;
A class, not in the class
A class at the by-pass
Not even with a pass--
An epitome of neglect
Who strive to reflect
But the sit-tight patriots
With rapacious throats
Won't allow the floats.
Where? Where do we turn?
To the garages, turn
You will see the piteous fun
Of great brains
Without academic rains
And of dying erudite grains
That could match the reigns
Of great kings.
Where? Where else?
Look, look there! --
The happy coin there
Is a sad coin here
You dance here,
You are praised;
You dance there,
You are despised--
What an irony!
A soft touch, a fresh laughter
A hard touch, a perpetual fever!
Where? Where? Where?
Up there, just look
Not by crook
But by orison of hook
That connects you to Him;
He is able to change your stain
To a great gain;
The terrible sacrilege
To a superb message;
And the arrant nonsense
To a remarkable SENSE!
