To Live In Extravagance or In Simplicity?
I guess it's safe to say that everyone wants to live a comfortable life. However, the word "comfortable" is subjective. It means to say that it is defined based on our preferences.
One may define comfortable just enough to keep things intact in terms of human needs. On the other hand, our definition of comfortable may not be the same as others. They define comfortable as to be living in extravagance. However, I believe one thing that we share common ground is to sustain the needs of every human being. Food, shelter, clothes, medicine, water, and socialization.
If one has already fulfilled these needs, wouldn't that be enough to live in this world? Or are you someone who wants to do something more and reach a goal any ordinary person could not achieve in an instant?
Personally, I would prefer my life to live in simplicity. To keep a low profile and have financial stability. That's how I want my life to be heading. But with the career I am trying to pursue now, keeping a low profile will be compromised. It's going to be a life-changing career but if it means to sustain the needs of my entire circle, then I will do it. Hopefully, we will be successful on this chosen path.
To live in extravagance is quite challenging for me, I must say. There are a lot of things to consider and as the famous statement of Spiderman says "with great power comes with great responsibility". As you expand your reach in all aspects, you will certainly be handling bigger plates.
Living in simplicity means also about stripping away the non-essentials in our lives. It gives us the realization of making priorities and from there, you will know which ones matter the most.
And so, I have listed here why there is beauty in simplicity:
Your finances improve.
When you keep your life simple, there's not much to worry about finances. Just keep your finances monitored and everything will follow. Extravagance is a picture of an unsatisfied life. You keep buying the things that you want and turns out that all of those are non-essentials. You have spent a lot of money on a material and yet you still find your life unsatisfied.
With simplicity, for as long as you know your priorities, the satisfaction will always be there. If you find out you have extra money to spend, that's when you give yourself a gift. Remember, do not overspend. Take it easy. The danger of earning big is that it increases your sense of wanting more because you can afford those. So that's something to watch out for.
You strengthen your health.
Living your life with simplicity actually eliminates stress and with lesser chances of being stressed out, it improves your health. When you focus on the things that matter to you, it boosts your overall well-being.
There's nothing much to think about, just pure simplicity and satisfaction in life. Then again, life without stress is not a meaningful one. The true character of a person shines when under stress though. That's where you discover its true demeanor. But living life with simplicity deals with lesser chances of stress so why complicate things?
Your life is more meaningful.
As you go through simplicity in life, you keep your circle small and intact. And so it gives you a more meaningful life by strengthening your relationship with one another. The older you become, the smaller circle you'll get. That's when you discover the people who truly matter to you.
You are going to live your life to stay simple without having to worry about other people's impressions because you know in yourself that you are enough.
Your inner peace is guaranteed.
The life you'll be having when you live with simplicity guarantees inner peace. It is because you won't be dealing with many people and from there you won't encounter toxic attitudes that may compromise your inner peace.
