Another person who suffered burn injuries at a fire in Narayanganj has died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Md Kiron Miah, 45, sustained 70% burns and died at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute around 12am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge Inspector Md Bachchu Miah confirmed the news of death.
With the new casualty, the death toll in the fire incident rose to two.
Earlier, a woman died while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of DMCH on Monday morning.
The deceased, Nurjahan, 60, had almost 100% burns in her body, Inspector Bachchu Miah told Dhaka Tribune.
Eight members of a family suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at their house in Sahebpara area under Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.
The fire originated on the ground floor of a five-storey building, where the family lived, around 5:30am on Monday.
Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Assistant Director Md Abdullah Al Arefin said gas accumulated in their flat as the gas burner was left on all night. The fire started when the burner was ignited in the morning.
Injured six others -- Md Abul Hossain, 25, Md Hiron Miah, 25, Md Kawsar, 16, Mukta Akhter, 20, Ilma Akhter, 3, and Apon, 10 -- are currently receiving treatment at the burn institute and the DMCH burn unit.
