Lack of knowledge of the sea is the main cause of indifference?

Today is World Maritime Day.

How much knowledge does a country with one of the potentials of the blue economy have about the sea? Statistics say that number is negligible.

So let's take a look at some important facts about the sea:

The combined body of saline water, which covers more than 70 percent of the earth's surface, is called the ocean.

Coins play an important role in regulating the Earth's climate as well as in the water cycle, the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. Out of sheer interest in this mysterious creation of nature, people have been navigating the seas since ancient times.

However, the scientific practice of oceanography began around 18 to 179, during Captain James Cook's expedition to the Pacific.

Moreover, the sea has always played an important role in the development of mankind and the development of trade.

Sodium chloride is the most soluble solid in seawater. In addition to many other elements are magnesium, calcium and potassium salts! There are a few elements in the ultra-concentrated state.

The salinity of seawater is not the same everywhere. The salinity of water is low on the surface and near the mouths of large rivers; On the other hand, in the deeper part of the sea, salinity is higher. Although the relative proportions of dissolved salts differ between different oceans.

The air flowing over the surface of the ocean creates waves. That wave broke into the shallows of the sea.

The friction of air with the surface of the ocean also causes ocean currents. These oceans flow slowly but regularly between the oceans.

Several factors, including the shape of the continents and the rotation of the earth (the Coriolis effect), control the direction of this flow. ”

The deep-sea currents known as the "World Transport Belt" carry cold water from the polar regions to each ocean.

The rotation of the earth around its own axis, the gravitational force of the moon orbiting the earth, and a small amount of the sun's gravitational force usually cause the sea level to rise and fall twice a day.

This phenomenon is known as tidal wave. Tidal levels are very high at the mouths of bays and rivers.

A catastrophic tsunami is caused by an earthquake at the bottom of the ocean as a result of the movement of geo-structural layers under the ocean floor. However, tsunamis are often caused by volcanic eruptions, landslides, and meteorite collisions.

Various bacteria, algae, plants, fungi and animals are found in the sea. This has led to the development of a diverse marine habitat and ecosystem at sea.

These habitats and ecosystems are characterized by the high-pressure shallows of cool and dark seawater perpendicular to the sunlit waters and shoreline above the surface of the ocean, and the tropical biodiversity along the axis from the cooling waters of the Arctic ice sheet.

Several major groups of plants and animals have evolved in the oceans. Even some sensational theories prove that the origin of life probably happened at sea.

The sea provides plenty of food for mankind. Fish is the main one. However, shellfish, mammals and seaweed are found in the sea. These are either caught by fishermen by throwing nets or cultivated under water.

People also use the sea for leisure activities such as trade, tourism, mineral extraction, power generation, warfare, swimming, leisure travel and scuba diving. The sea is polluted for these activities.

The importance of the sea in human culture is not less. From Homer's Odyssey epic era, the presence of the sea has been noticeable in literature, maritime art, theater and classical music.

Last but not least, the sea is playing a vital role in our normal lives.

Yet the country is riding a strange camel! We are extremely indifferent to the sea. Hope to hear from you soon. At best for their own interests!

340 m. Long, 56 m. The VLCC (Very large Crude Carrier) vessel "Atban" with a capacity of 3,00,371 metric tons of crude oil has now reached its final destination at the Ship Breaking Yard at Sitakunda, Chittagong.

If possible, take a tour of this ship, there is a lot to see, especially how low the ground is from the bridge wing of this ship!

Make a memory in the mirror of your mind. You can talk to your grandchildren in old age!
