Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass one-thousandth that of the Sun, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System combined.

Jupiter's average distance from the Sun is 480 million miles and takes nearly 12 years to make one revolution. Like the rest of the gas giants, Jupiter has a ring, albeit small and flat. Its rotation is the fastest of all solar system planets, rotating once on its axis every 10 hours.

Jupiter is made up predominantly of hydrogen. The simple, basic gas, a prime ingredient on the sun, accounts for 90 percent of the atmosphere. Nearly 10 percent is composed of helium. A very small fraction of the atmosphere is made up of compounds such as ammonia, sulfur, methane, and water vapor.

The Jupiter also have the The Great Red Spot.

The Great Red Spot is a persistent high-pressure region in the atmosphere of Jupiter, producing an anticyclonic storm, the largest in the Solar System, 22 degrees south of Jupiter's equator. It has been continuously observed since 1878.
