Eta Carinae
Eta Carinae, formerly known as Eta Argus, is a stellar system containing at least two stars with a combined luminosity greater than five million times that of the Sun, located around 7,500 light-years distant in the constellation Carina.
Eta Carinae A is classified as a luminous blue variable LBV star. It is the most luminous star of this classification. Eta Carinae B is thought to be a young O-type star while some consider it to be an evolved supergiant star.
Eta Carinae is found within the Carina Nebula, a giant star-forming region in the Carina–Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. The nebula is a prominent naked eye object in the southern skies showing a complex mix of emission, reflection, and dark nebulosity.
Eta Carinae A is more than 5 million times brighter than our sun and has surface temperatures between 9.400 to 35.200 K.
