What is the Coinbase card and how to use it?

In today's article, we are going to cover exactly what the Coinbase card is and how to use it. This is a card I personally use a lot and for very good reasons. Which is why I wanted to write this article today. I think many of my readers will appreciate this article especially those that can't or don't have any credit to use or build with. With that being said let's get into today's very useful and informative article.

What is the Coinbase card?

So to start we need to go over exactly how this card works. The Coinbase rewards card is a Cryptocurrency exchange Debit cashback card. It's operated through Coinbase so this is where you will be managing everything related to this card at. You get unlimited cashback and you get cashback at just about every store or business. There are some businesses you can't spend your card at like gambling websites for example. You spend your cryptocurrency or money you hold in your account. You can choose between 5 reward options for your cash back. The rewards are subjugated to change so do beware of this as it can increase or decrease. You'll also be prompted weekly to choose a reward for the week you can select a new reward or just leave it alone and it'll choose the previous week's reward as your cashback option. The rewards for the Coinbase rewards card as of (3/24/23) are the following:

Bitcoin 0.5%

USDC 0.5%

Ethereum 0.5%

Polygon: 0.5%

Stellar Lumens 1%

I choose to get my rewards in USDC when making purchases. However, It might be worth it to get rewards in other cryptocurrencies during a bull market as your rewards can increase in price and earn you more money. However, for the time being, seeing as we are in a bear market, I like to play it safe and just stick to getting my rewards in USDC. Plus I can stack my cash-back rewards with what I got staking in USDC on Coinbase to earn even more money. Which is my strategy currently at the moment in this market. How to acquire the card

Now it's time to get into exactly how to acquire the Coinbase rewards card. To start you need to have a Coinbase account set up and ready to be used. If you don't have an account you can sign up using the link provided. Once you have an account set up then you go to where it says Card either on the website or on the mobile app. You then go ahead and apply for the card and answer any questions presented to you. After you've done that It'll take between 2-4 weeks for the card to ship to you. However, you can use it right after being approved if you like online or in stores that will input your information. This is because Coinbase offers you a virtual card alongside your physical card.

How to spend the card

Now that you have your card you might be asking how you spend your card. There are many cryptocurrencies as well as the ability to use fiat USD to purchase products or services. You can choose whatever option you want to use to spend and you'll still earn the rewards of your choice. If you want you can choose to spend In USDC and put all your spending money in your account into USDC and earn interest on it as it automatically staked for you to get rewards. But this USDC isn't locked up so you can still spend it if you need to. This allows you to earn as of writing this article 2% interest on your spending money and earn cashback rewards at the same time.
