Putin's strategy with Ukraine

In todays blog article I wanted to cover a very important subject that has a impact on everyone on this earth. Especially those who live in the west and eastern Europe. Putin has a goal of either conquering Ukraine and occupying it or subjugating it thus making it a puppet state. However recently reports have reported that Russia has been stalled in its process of invading Ukraine. With Russia's push into Kyiv so far not being successful with them only being able to make minor incursions. Which is why I wanted to cover what exactly Putin's strategy for Ukraine is. So without furthermore lets get into todays special and very important article.   

Putin's geopolitical strategy

Putin has had a goal of bringing Ukraine under it's sphere of influence since the day he took office. However he has slowly escalated the tensions between Ukraine, Russia, and the west over the past two decades. This is how Putin's been attempting to show that he still has control of his region of the world. However with Ukraine slowly aligning with the west and Russia seeing collapsing demographics Putin had to act fast and with the Ukrainian people not willing to align with the kremlin Putin knew he wouldn't hold out long if Ukraine fell so he decided to finally invade Ukraine. Which leads us to the current crisis and war we are seeing unfold right now.  However Putin's goal for this war are to try to make Russia look strong on the world stage and not weak through being able to conduct a full scale invasion of Ukraine and then occupying the country. However this is unlikely as if he is able to be successful in invading Ukraine and brings down the government in Kyiv he will still have to put up with resistance and a possible insurgency similar to Chechnya on a bigger scale. 

Putin's war strategy

Lets now look at Putin's current war strategy for the Ukrainians. There have been reports that Putin is resorting to destroying the Ukrainian economy and infrastructure as he is starting to realize that it might not be possible to topple the government in Kyiv. So it's possible he has now made it his goal to get Ukraine to the peace talks and to have them agree to his terms. This is why he hasn't made any more advancements in the recent week. It's also been reported that the Russians are running out of equipment and resources. Which has led to them looting stores and public spaces in Ukraine. Thus further proving my point that Putin is working towards a scorch earth strategy. If this is Putin's plans then he is going to create a humanitarian crisis bigger then what we are already experiencing. Which could further put pressure on the world economy especially the economies of the west, Russia, and Russia's ally Belarus.
