With all that now out the way, we can get into the rest of the article.
Knowing if your hobby is profitable
The first important factor to consider when making your hobby into a business is can it be made into a stable profitable income stream. You want to turn this hobby basically into a passive income so that it doesn't feel like you doing work like you would as if you were doing a 9 to 5. First thing first you need to figure out if you have a big enough market or audience for your hobby to make money from it. So this means you need to do some market research and analysis about who your market is and if it's big and popular enough to make money in it. If you plan on starting a YouTube channel, blog, or some type of content creation then you need to make sure your content is interesting enough you'll be able to retain viewers and followers. You'll also want to know if your hobby turned business is going to cost you any money to maintain and support.
How to start turning your hobby into a business
Now first starting you aren't going to have crazy growth especially if you are in a small niche and don't plan on spending any money on marketing. Now one of the first things you're going to want to do when first starting off is making social media accounts for your business. Now some of the best digital marketing apps you can use to get traffic and sales are Instagram and Pinterest. Instagram is more useful say if you're selling a product or course whereas Pinterest is best if you're a content creator. Another app you can use to start making money and if you market properly even make more sales and bring in more traffic is tik tok. However, I don't use tik tok myself so I can't give you the proper information for that platform to be successful on there.
The first thing first when setting up an account is you need it all to be under one name so make your accounts either your name or brand this way it's easier for people to find all of your social media accounts. After that, you're going to want to start making content for these sites so if you posting on Instagram and have a shop or you trying to sell a course then you need to post what you make or teach. Then if you got reviews or good ratings you're going to want to show that off to show you are a reputable seller. You're also going to want to post what it is your selling so show off your products and courses so they show up on people's timelines. One last thing for social media is you want to collab with other accounts and try to get reposts and shout-outs for shout-outs so you can grow your page even faster and provide even better content and products for your followers.
If you have a hobby where you need to buy supplies one of the best things you can do is look for deals and discounts for the materials you need. Now there are all kinds of sites you can go on to buy supplies in bulk and cheap. Some of the best sites to get deals and to buy in bulk are eBay, Amazon, and alibi. You also might want to hire help as well if you're getting overloaded with all the work. You don't want to burn out as this will degrade the quality of your work which isn't good for the businesses. Now, this doesn't mean you have to hire a team but maybe just hire a part-time assistant or sectary to help with the workload. The most important factor when it comes to being successful when it comes to making your hobby into a business is marketing and networking. This leads us to the next topic of discussion for improvement.
Marketing and networking
Now to start getting traffic and sells you need to start marketing and networking. Now while using social media is a form of marketing and networking it only partially covers all the tools you can use for digital marketing and just marketing in general. Now there are all kinds of marketing you can do from proper marketing like using ads and or giving people samples or trials of your products or guerilla marketing which is passing flyers around and posting flyers and posters in public. Then there is networking which is somewhat similar to marketing but also very different. All networking is basically is you making connections with others so that you can get access to more resources and connections. This means you have to go out of your way to message other people and businesses if you want to get partnerships or help. Networking is one of the best things you can do to further your business because if people like you for you or your business then they will just try to help you out of their own goodwill for free. Some of the best ways to start networking are through social media and word of mouth in real life.
