For many people , access to email is gained through company or institutional computing system, sometimes through IBM or VAX environment , you may already have an internet email address and not know it.call your computer user assistance staff and ask , these people are often in the MIS department. Getting online may mean learning to connect to a corporate system to a LAN or your internet service provider. Virtually any system that handles mail will have some kind of mail program installed . If your using a SLIP or PPP account with an ISP you can use any number of mail programs on your local machine . Eudora and Pegasus are just two examples. All mails program have a set of commands or menus that allows you to send and receive mail but they vary in their capabilities for composing , editing and managing messages . Some require that you compose the message as a file outside the mail program and some will not let you edit it before sending . Others however provide much more user friendly features such as full screen editing named electronic file folders for storing and organizing received messages ,spell checking and various sort and search utilities to help you to manage your message
