Organic inputs usually used in soil fertility management commonly consist of live stock manures , farmyard manure, crop residues , household organic litter, composted plant material and any plant biomass hervested from within or outside the farm environment for purpose of increasing soil productivity. In urban and print urban areas , organic inputs can also be made up of industrial organic waste and sewage sludge . Organic resources have multiple functions in soil, ranging on their influence on nutrient availability to modification of the soil environment in which plants grow. Organic inputs derived from plants remains provides most of the essential nutrient elements.but usually insufficient quantities because of the richness in carbon. Organic resources provides an energy source for the soil microrganisms which drive the verious soil biological processes that enhance nutrient transformation and other quality parameters of soil. As these organic matter undergo the process of decomposition or breakdown in soil. They contribute to the formation of soil organic matter which is generally considered to be the backbone of soil fertility . Most of the lasting impacts of organic inputs on souls are related to the functions of soil organic matter . During decomposition the organic matterals interact with soil minerals forming complex substances such as aluminum leading to better release of phosphorus bound to soil mineral surface. Organic as source of nutrients., The role of organic matterals as nutrient source is underpinned by the biological process of decomposition which involves the biological breakdown dead organic tissue into it's inorganic constituent forms . primarily through the action of microrganisms. The process by which essential nutrient elements in unavailable organic forms are converted to their inorganic forms that are available for use by growing plant is known as mineralization s. It is during decomposition of organic material in souls that SOM . Som can therefore said to be made up of organic matterals of diverse origin that are at various stages of decomposition though the management of soil microorganisms. Since micro organisms also grow multiply and die during the process of decomposition and in turn contribute to the dynamic changes in soil organic matter formation and mineralization. The amount of soil organic matter formed as well as quantities of nutrients depend on the amount and frequency of oragnic inputs applied to the soil. Under undisturbed natural vegetation such as permanent forest or
