Education plays a very important role in our lives. As what Nelson Mandela had said "Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world. Education helps us to learn discover, and explore new things. It makes us knowledgeable enough and not to be ignorant with the things around us. But because of the pandemic that is happening in the world right now, some changes were made in the education system.
I know that everyone are struggling because of the pandemic that is happening in the world right now, that's why I highly agree to those students who really wanted an "academic freeze" because there are lots of factors that can affect the education of the students on implementing the online learning. I hope that the Department of Education will also consider our situation right now that we are not stable financially. We cannot learn in our own way because I know that there are some things that needs the guidance of our teachers in learning and most of all we are not born with a silver spoon in our mouth.
We cannot afford to buy laptops, printers and other things needed on the online classes. We don't have wifi that can help us to have a strong connection on delivering our outputs or messages in our teachers and the signal is not stable in our area. We cannot even buy load for our cellphones just so we can use mobile data if ever there are announcements made by our teachers or principal because there are more important things right now rather than buying load for our cellphones.
In my country which is the Philippines, the Department of Education implemented the online learning instead of having face to face classes. But how can we learn now if we don't even have an easy access on the internet? How can we learn now if we don't even have the materials needed on the online classes? What will happen to our education now? What will happen to us? Those are just some questions that keeps on bugging my mind because of the sudden changes made by the Department of Education on the education system.
Wanting an academic freeze doesn't mean we don't value education anymore because honestly, we value it very much. It's just that we think that's the best thing to do especially that we are facing a pandemic right now.
Academic Freeze isn't what we want, it's what we need. No student should left behind. - UNKNOWN
