Yap...like the name implies, thanksgiving is giving thanks the question is to who are you giving thanks to.. Well as a Christian I always thought that thanksgiving is just all about going to Church to give thanks to God and then maybe the Church shares refreshments to its members and we'll go home. Yap that's what I didn't just think but what always did happen.
Everything changed with the new Church I happen to attend. So You know, it was an first an Invitation, then I just became drawn to the Church and I have really benefited Spiritually.
So what was our Thanksgiving all about. Well we danced and praised God all through the service because literally there was no preaching and I wouldn't blame Us because this Thanksgiving is done once a year we actually call it the "Annual Thanksgiving". But something caught my Interest. You know these days everybody prefer to keep to his/her own business not minding if Your neighborhood has something to eat. This annual Thanksgiving was about thanking God for all he has done for Us members of the Church and in appreciation to God's doings we receprocate God's kindness and care to those who need it.
So we went to orphanages and gave out food items (of which We the members brought to the church) and shared God's blessing's to them. It was so touching and awesome at the same time to be the one to put smiles on Children's faces. It was a wonderful experience and I was glad.
I remember when I first came to this Church and after a few weeks the Church organized a Food Bank session i.e. giving out food item to members in need of it and then I found out that this was done every session during the exam period. You know many philanthropist of today do have a past that prompted them to give without withholding. So I learnt that the Pastor actually graduated from the school I do attend and because of the way School life stresses a student and then exams come and every student tries to assimilate, in this Church, one major worry is being sorted out FOOD. As an Agricultural student I do know for sure that without FOOD it is difficult to assimilate.
I know that there are Churches out there who are bent on helping the those who are in need of help and I do Urge them to keep up the Good work. God has His eyes on You..
