"Giganotosaurus"
Giganotosaurus, this giant dinosaur lived on Earth in the Cretaceous period 99.8-96 million years ago. Gigannotosaurus means "Giant Southern Lizard".
These were the largest theropod dinosaurs of their time. If we mention the terrifying carnivorous dinosaurs living on the earth, their names will come to the forefront.
Don't think of the name Gigantotosaurus as Gigantotosaurus again. Because Gigantosaurus and Giganotosaurus are two different dinosaurs. In short, Giganotosaurus was a carnivore and theropod dinosaur. Gigantosaurus, on the other hand, are herbivores and sauropod dinosaurs. Sauropod dinosaurs are all dinosaurs that are usually long-necked and long, four-legged, like pillars. And theropods, as I said, are those whose hind legs are long and strong and whose front legs are comparatively much shorter, they basically run on the hind legs. The small front legs are used to hold the prey like a hand.
However, in terms of length, Giganotosaurus is about 40-43 feet long, slightly larger than the T. rex. However, they lag behind Spinosaurus in terms of length. They weigh about 14 tons. With their long strong legs behind them, they could run very fast. Their slim, sharp tail helped them to balance their body as they ran and took turns. According to the researchers, they could run at a speed of about 50 kilometers per hour. They were faster than the T-Rex. The T-Rex ran at a speed of about 40 kilometers per hour.
From the fossils it is known that they had three toes like small hands in front of them and they had very sharp nails. Although we know very little about them due to the fossil scarcity of Giganotosaurus. This does not mean that we know nothing.
Along with their gigantic bodies, their heads were also quite large. At about 5 feet tall, the head fit the giant's body very well, making it look more violent than others.
They usually hunted large herbivorous dinosaurs. Although they had the power to hunt living dinosaurs, they often ate food left by others when needed.
Their long, sharp teeth were capable of removing the flesh of predators. But research has shown that their bite power was many times weaker than that of T-Rex. So the idea is that instead of killing the prey with a bite, they would pick up the meat and kill the prey with blood. Many large dinosaurs would have been preyed upon in this way.
At a meeting of paleontologists in 2014, a fossil of Argentinosaurus was shown showing the teeth of carcharodontosaurids. (Carcharodontosaurid is a group of carnivorous theropod dinosaurs. It contains zygotanosaurus, carcinodontosaurus, tyrannosaurus, etc. Argentinosaurus is one of the largest dinosaurs in the history of the world. . However, it is unclear whether any dinosaurs in the carcharodontosaurid group hunted it alone. According to paleontologist Canale, carcharodontosaurids may have been known in groups to recognize such large herbivorous dinosaurs.
Their fossils were discovered in 1993 by Rubén Dario Carolini in Patagonia, south of Argentina. The paleontologists Rodolfo Coria and Leonardo Salgado named him Gigannotosaurus. And the species of fossil found is named Giganotosaurus carolini (after Carolini). In 1998, the front part of the lower jaw on the left side was found. All in all, however, no complete skeleton of Zyganotosaurus has yet been found. Maybe in the future we will get more and more new information
nice information
