Steps taken
At present, various government and non-government organizations of our country are making significant contribution in rural development. Through various programs, counseling and training is being imparted in the villages on education, health, elimination of unemployment, agricultural production, animal husbandry etc. The government introduced compulsory primary education in the country on January 1, 1992. Which spread across the country on January 1, 1993. In 1982, DRDB (Bangladesh Rural Development Board) was formed in the country. It is currently pursuing integrated village development efforts through the implementation of various programs and projects. At present, information centers have been set up in almost every Union Parishad building in Bangladesh. Besides, various government and non-government organizations are working for mass education in rural areas, eradication of illiteracy, introduction of scientific system in agriculture, development of communication system, electrification, clean water system.
Problems in rural development
Rural development programs are hampered in various ways. Overall rural development is not possible due to lack of proper planning. Incompetent and corrupt leadership is hindering rural development. Lack of educated manpower, unemployment, rapid population growth, rural political factions, dilapidated state of communication system are seen as obstacles in rural development. Rural development is being hampered by non-cooperation and lack of facilities by the government.
What we have to do
There will be many problems in rural development, so we should not stop. The problem needs to be solved. The light of hope must shine in the people. We have to work with sincerity. The light of education should be spread in every house of the village. Above all, collective efforts need to be intensified for rural development.
Our national development is dependent on rural development. We have to increase all kinds of facilities in the village, we have to take science based programs. Along with the government, the people must come forward equally in rural development.
