Requirements for rural development

In order to develop the country, the village must be saved. The mainstay of our country's economy is agriculture, and the basis of agriculture is the countryside. National progress of the country is not possible without rural development. Since most of the people live in the countryside, we have to look at the countryside. Every person in the village has to be turned into human resources. A conducive environment for work exists in the countryside, all that is needed is work-oriented education and inspiration. There are villages all over the country so the development of the country has to be ensured through education, health and economic development of the rural people.

Ways of Rural Development

The things that need to be looked after and implemented for rural development are-

* Poverty alleviation.

* Improving the quality of life

* Low cost quality education system.

* Balanced distribution of resources.

* Creation of employment opportunities.

* To establish medical centers.

* Development of communication system.

* To provide career oriented education.

* Modernization of agriculture

* Awareness among the people.

* Promoting modern technology.

* Plan formulation and implementation.

Rural Development Process and Strategy

Various processes and strategies need to be implemented for rural development.

The strategies are-

A) Expansion of education: Necessary number of educational institutions should be set up in the villages. We have to make people aware through education. We have to give importance to women's education. Night schools should be arranged for the elderly and hardworking people.

B) Health development: Community hospitals should be set up for the poor rural people. Pure water must be provided. Maternal and child mortality rates should be reduced by providing timely vaccinations.

C) Development of cottage industries: Cottage industries need to be developed to strengthen the countryside economically. Rural development will be accelerated if government and private assistance can be increased for the development of cottage industries.

D) Development of communication system: Roads should be constructed, repaired and necessary bridges, culverts and bridges should be constructed for easy marketing of agricultural produce produced in the villages.

In addition, animal husbandry, fish farming, electricity, cooperative societies, lending and youth welfare programs should be taken up in the villages.

Steps taken

At present, various government and non-government organizations of our country are making significant contribution in rural development. Through various programs, counseling and training is being imparted in the villages on education, health, elimination of unemployment, agricultural production, animal husbandry etc. The government introduced compulsory primary education in the country on January 1, 1992. Which spread across the country on January 1, 1993. In 1982, DRDB (Bangladesh Rural Development Board) was formed in the country. It is currently pursuing integrated village development efforts through the implementation of various programs and projects. BARD (Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development) was established in 1959 in Comilla to alleviate poverty in rural areas. At present, information centers have been set up in almost every Union Parishad building in Bangladesh. Besides, various government and non-government organizations are working for mass education in rural areas, eradication of illiteracy, introduction of scientific system in agriculture, development of communication system, electrification, clean water system.

Problems in rural development

Rural development programs are hampered in various ways. Overall rural development is not possible due to lack of proper planning. Incompetent and corrupt leadership is hindering rural development. Lack of educated manpower, unemployment, rapid population growth, rural political factions, dilapidated state of communication system are seen as obstacles in rural development. Rural development is being hampered by non-cooperation and lack of facilities by the government.

What we have to do

There will be many problems in rural development, so we should not stop. The problem needs to be solved. The light of hope must shine in the people. We have to work with sincerity. The light of education should be spread in every house of the village. Above all, collective efforts need to be intensified for rural development.

Our national development is dependent on rural development. We have to increase all kinds of facilities in the village, we have to take science based programs. Along with the government, the people must come forward equally in rural development.
