Excessive speed and overtaking of vehicles is blamed as one of the causes of road accidents. The police report also said that excessive speed and reckless driving of the drivers were responsible for the accident. There is also a long history of accidents when cars speed up on the bridge.
Narrow roads
Most of the roads in Bangladesh are narrow. As a result, the number of road accidents is increasing day by day. The busiest routes from Dhaka are Dhaka-Aricha and Dhaka-Chittagong highways. These roads are not wider than necessary. As a result, accidents and casualties are more in these two ways. Moreover, accidents often occur due to excessive traffic on narrow roads across the country.
Overloading
Overloading means carrying more goods than capacity. As a result, drivers often lose control and cause accidents.
Disobeying the law
One of the main causes of road accidents is disobeying the law. According to a survey, 91 percent of drivers do not pay attention to pedestrians at the zebra crossing. Besides, 85 percent pedestrians crossed the road breaking the rules. Moreover, according to a survey, 64% of rickshaw pullers in Dhaka city are ignorant of traffic laws and regulations. As a result, accidents happen every day.
Population pressure and inadequate transportation system
As the country's population grows, so does the number of vehicles. The capital Dhaka currently has more than 246 vehicles per kilometer. Approximately 5 lakh 50 thousand vehicles travel on the total 223.30 km roads under Dhaka metropolitan area. The picture is much the same in other big cities. As a result, the accident rate is increasing.
Traffic mismanagement
The length of roads in Bangladesh is about 25,000 kilometers. Numerous vehicles ply on these roads every day. But the traffic system to bring this huge vehicle in an orderly system has not been developed in this country even today.
Use of technology
The modern age is completely dependent on technology. When this technology is not used properly, big accidents often happen. Drivers talk on the phone, listen to music while driving. As a result, he became careless. This led to a car accident.
In addition, faulty vehicles, incompetent and unlicensed drivers, illegal haat bazaars on the roads, illegal installations, occasional digging of roads without using alternative roads, adulteration of oil used in vehicles and lack of necessary dividers in the roads are causing road accidents.
