The birthplace of this serial killer was Colombia. It is believed that Daniel Barbosa raped and killed a total of 150 underage girls in the ten years from 1960 to 1970 in Colombia and Ecuador.
Barbosa lost his mother at a very young age and started living with his stepmother. His stepmother used to torture him a lot and used to dress him in girls' clothes to make people laugh. Barbosa was first arrested in 1980 for burglary in the Colombian capital, Bogota.
Barbosa develops an extramarital affair with another woman, despite having a married wife and two children, and plans to marry her. Barbosa later agreed to continue the relationship on the condition that his lover would bring the virgin girls to him to satisfy his sexual lust. His girlfriend befriended young girls, called them home and gave them sleeping pills. When the girls became unconscious, they were raped. Thus 5 girls were sexually abused one by one. But this serial killer has not killed anyone yet. Except for the incident when a victim reported his sexual abuse to the police. Barbosa and his girlfriend were arrested and taken to separate jails by the police. Barbosa was initially sentenced to three years in prison, but was later sentenced to seven years by another judge. In the bag with Barbosa was found some of his victim's blood-stained clothes, along with a book written by a teenager called Crime and Punishment.
At first he called the police by a fake name, but a girl who escaped from Barbosa could recognize him. Police are left to understand that Barbosai is the serial killer and the main culprit behind the disappearance of the girls. Barbosa later pleaded guilty to murdering a total of 72 girls in Ecuador. In Ecuador, Barbosa was sentenced to 25 years in prison, the highest sentence in the country. Barbosa is said to have converted to Christianity while in prison. His partner in prison was another Celia killer, Pedro Lepoz, alias Monster of the Andes. The notorious killer confessed to the murder in prison in November 1994.
