EMERGENCIES
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
The Emergency Service of the University Hospital of the Favaloro Foundation is prepared for the comprehensive care of people with critical medical conditions, especially those pathologies that require some urgent intervention of high complexity (for example, acute myocardial infarction).
The Service has state-of-the-art instruments and supplies and support and consultation services at any time, during the seven days.
Health personnel participate in teaching and research activities inherent to a University Hospital. The administrative staff provides personalized assistance and guidance to the patient and their family during accreditation to the Service, admission to the Hospital or referral from another center.
The Emergency Service also functions as support for other Services for the assistance of outpatients who present a decompensation during their stay in the Hospital.
DISEASES FOR WHICH CARE IS PROVIDED
Acute myocardial infarction
Acute coronary syndrome
Acute Pulmonary Edema
Cardiac arrhythmias
High blood pressure crisis
Complicated aortic aneurysm
Cerebrovascular accident
Epilepsy crisis
Asthma crisis
Decompensated obstructive pulmonary disease
Acute abdomen
Other
 DIAGNOSIS
The Emergency Service receives patients with acute or critical pathology diagnosed at home or in another center. The service facilitates the management of the referral, compensates the situation and makes the transfer to the appropriate hospitalization service.
It also receives patients who consult spontaneously and on an outpatient basis for reasons potentially linked to acute or critical pathologies (for example, chest pain, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, palpitations, acute alteration of mental state, loss of strength of a body segment, among others). In these cases, the service deals with the search for the cause of the symptom, compensation in the event of an acute or critical condition, the request for studies and pertinent interconsultations, the transfer to the appropriate hospitalization service, or the definition of discharge to the home with treatment and follow-up guidelines.
 STAFF OF PROFESSIONALS
The Service has a staff of doctors and nurses with high training in Emergency Medicine. All staff or on-call medical professionals have a specialist degree in Emergentology or related
