Madrid has nearly all the possible things that are necessary for spending a vacation. From architecture to a buzzing neighborhoods, world-class museums and delicious gastronomy. Therefore you will enjoy each and everything in this amazing city that never sleeps. The people of the city are friendly, energy is contagious, and the sights of the city are amazing. I am here to help you in experiencing the best of this Spanish capital in 3 days.
Day 1: Tour first day in Madrid
Start your 3-day journey by visiting famous and world-class museums. Travelers love and appreciate stunning and outstanding masterpieces at Prado Museum. It is a relaxed way to begin your day and get knowledge about this cultural icon for art lovers in Madrid. There are normally long lines but you can avoid them by getting tickets ahead of time. If you visit with kids, then ensure to rent paddle and boat to make the journey better at the nearby popular city park, El Retiro. You can also stop by San Gines, right at the city centre near Puerta del Sol to taste the rich churros and hot chocolate (ideal in the mornings or after lunch as an indulgent dessert). San Gines is getting so international that they are opening around the world in places like Japan and China.
To make your movements from one point to another easier, you have a choice of transport methods from Segways, electric scooters, rented bikes, buses, the metro and even private taxis including Über. Note that due to traffic in the city centre as well as restricted areas to avoid air pollution, it´s better to use public transport , walk or take the metro. However, another excellent option is to enjoy from the Madrid tourist bus and kill 2 birds with one stone. You will cover many places, learn about the attractions and monuments from the comfort of your seat. In fact it´s the most convenient way to see the Real Madrid stadium, Santiago Bernabeu.
For Dinner, choose Casa Paco (The previous King of Spain loved eating here) because it offers you the most traditional meals in Madrid.
Day 2- Your second day in Madrid
In the morning, visit to the Royal Palace of Madrid. It is the best place to experience the opulence of Spanish royalty. Visit the palace rooms that consist of red velvet thrones, ceiling murals and crystal chandeliers. Arrive at the palace earlier to avoid queues or simply get your entrance tickets ahead of time.
From the Royal Palace you can walk over to Almudena Cathedral very closeby. The cathedral is more than 100 years old. It is an amazing place. If you feel like having a bite then enjoy breakfast at Cafe de Oriente a short distance away.
Day 3 - Your third day in Madrid
On the third day, you can take it easy while exploring different neighbourhoods of Madrid. For shopping definitely walk down Gran Vía and admire the tall buildings as well as may flagship stores. Then for a bohemian feel of the city you can visit Lavapies area where you can find many Morrocan shops, Senegalese restaurants, Indian restaurants and people from around the world. If you are a hipster or are in with the times, you will feel comfortable in the Malasaña area where the boutiques and stores will satisfy every curiosity and taste.
At evening, you should go to experience a Flamenco show which can also be accompanied by a Spanish dinner. This is a fitting way to speand the last evening of your 3 day trip to Madrid, in song, music and tradition.
