Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe was created by Marvel Studios in 2008, there have been lots of superhero characters in it, one of the most popular of which is Spider-Man. To date, Spider-Man has appeared in six MCU films, including Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity Wars (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and three of his own solo films, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and currently airing Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Unlike other characters in the MCU, Spider-Man is a form of collaboration between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, considering that Sony still holds the rights to the Spider-Man character. Although fans initially thought that Spider-Man: No Way Home was the last collaboration between Sony and Marvel, Sony recently announced that they still have plans for the next Spider-Man trilogy with Marvel, which fans are excited about.

Although Spider-Man: No Way Home is still in theaters, recently, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige provided another good news by confirming that they are currently developing a Spider-Man 4 film. “Amy [Pascal] and I, with Disney and Sony are discussing where the [Spider-Man] story is going next," Feige told the New York Times. "I'm saying it outright because I don't want fans to go through the trauma of a breakup like what happened after Far From Home. And it won't happen this time."

In 2019, following the release of Spider-Man Far From Home, fans were saddened to hear the news that Sony and Marvel had stopped working together. That means the story of Spider-Man in the MCU ends in the second film. However, not long after that Sony announced that they decided to work with Marvel again, and continue the story of Spider-Man with the film Spider-Man: No Way Home. And as time goes on, it seems that the relationship between Sony and Marvel is getting more harmonious.

So far, it's still unclear what Spider-Man 4 will be like, but it's clear that Tom Holland's character Peter Parker aka Spider-Man will return. As for the director's chair, it is likely to be filled by someone else, considering that Jon Watts is currently busy developing the Fantastic Four film. For now, let's just wait for further news developments about Spider-Man 4.
