James Cameron Reveals Avatar 2 Movie Setting!
Initially, no one thought that the 2009 film Avatar would have a sequel. The story of the first film itself is actually quite well closed, showing the natives called the Na'vi finally managed to stop the exploitation of humans on Planet Pandora and banish them back to Earth. However, it seems that James Cameron has plans much bigger than that, now he is working on Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 simultaneously, and hopes that his success will pave the way for Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.
The process of shooting the films Avatar 2 and 3 itself has been in the works for approximately three years, from 2017 to the end of 2020. This film again presents Jake Sully and Neytiri with a new adventure, where their home will be attacked by humans again, so they must flee to Pandora's underwater Na'vi clan called Metkayina. Interestingly, director James Cameron revealed that the next Avatar film setting will not only take place on Planet Pandora, but on Planet Earth as well.

Recently, at Variety's "Directors on Directors" event, James Cameron spoke to Dune director Denis Villeneuve that Avatar will take place in two different worlds. "This [Avatar sequel] was a challenging decision because I wanted to get it right, or not at all," Cameron said. βI can say that within the framework of the universe, this could have happened. Just as Dune takes place on many planets, the next Avatar takes place in two worlds, some of which take place on Earth as the story progresses.β
In the same event, James Cameron also announced the development of his film production which was almost finished. βAvatar 2 is completely finished. We've filled it with visual effects. I feel quite confident with the film," added Cameron. βWhile Avatar 3 is still in progress. I haven't really turned my energy around to get it done. I've done all the shooting and live action scenes. There's still a little bit to do with some of the adult characters [in the film]."

With the development of this latest news, although there are still many mysteries related to the film, it seems that fans can only fully trust director James Cameron. From his own career experience, James Cameron is very experienced in working on sci-fi films, besides Avatar, he was previously famous for his popular works such as Aliens, Terminator, and Terminator 2. If there are no obstacles, the film Avatar 2 will be released on December 16, 2022.
