There are times in our lives where we are so scared or nervous in a certain social situation. Sometimes it is because you are called for a report in front of everyone or ask to do speech with the crowd or whatever that sent you chills everytime you are in a group of people. These things can sometimes trigger you go become social anxious by the environment and to the people around you. We all experienced this sometimes in life but feeling it too much isn't good anymore. If you have the social anxiety disorder, the stress of these situations is too much to handle. You might avoid all social contact because things that other people consider “normal” -- like making small talk and eye contact make you so uncomfortable. All aspects of your life, not just the social, could start to fall apart.

If you want to know whether you have social anxiety, well these are some of the signs:

  • Talking to strangers

  • Speaking in public

  • Dating

  • Making eye contact

  • Entering rooms

  • Using public restrooms

  • Going to parties

  • Eating in front of other people

  • Going to school or work

  • Starting conversations

Social anxious people are scared of being judge by the people around them or the people watching them, being embarrassed or humiliated where their sweats are uncontrollably dropping, being offended by someone accidentally and being the center of attention.

Social anxiety disorder usually comes on at around 13 years of age. It can be linked to a history of abuse, bullying, or teasing. Shy kids are also more likely to become socially anxious adults, as are children with overbearing or controlling parents. If you develop a health condition that draws attention to your appearance or voice, that could trigger social anxiety, too. Social anxiety is hard to deal because it affects how the way you live your own life. It ruins so much opportunities in life. Most people with social anxiety has very low self esteem which is not good about, we should be proud of ourselves and would not be shy to show it to the world. Social anxious people tend to have negative thoughts all the time, being depressed out of sudden, sensitive and too fragile to accept criticisms and very poor social skills in communicating with the people.

Several types of treatment are available for social anxiety disorder. Treatment results differ from person to person. Some people only need one type of treatment. However, others may require more than one. Your healthcare provider may refer you to a mental health provider for treatment. Sometimes, primary care providers may suggest medication to treat symptoms. There is cognitive behavioral therapy where it helps the person to relax and breathe to control social anxiety, this will provide to positive thoughts. Another one is Exposure therapy where the person face social situations it is more like "face your fears." There is also Group Therapy where the person interact in social settings and share each other experiences.

Although it may feel like you’re the only one with this problem, social anxiety is actually quite common. Many people struggle with these fears. But the situations that trigger the symptoms of social anxiety disorder can be different.

Some people experience anxiety in most social situations. For others, anxiety is connected to specific social situations, such as speaking to strangers, mingling at parties, or performing in front of an audience. Well, it doesn't mean that you are nervous in every situations doesn't actually mean you have social anxiety disorder. The truth is that there are many people feel shy or self-conscious in so many certain occasions and it's pretty normal.
