We all have different ways to prepare food for the Christmas. Some may be traditional and was inherited to us by our forefathers and some are being learnt. In either way, how they are served and how all the families gathered to the table is what matters the most and the smile from each makes the Christmas the beautiful season.

Well, I am going to share to you the different foods prepare in Christmas by different countries, based on their culture and tradition.

The Traditional Yule Log

The food original and actual name is Buche de Noel originated from the country of France. The Christmas dessert is shaped like a log. It is a chocolate cake that is rolled with chocolate whipped cream all over. It was designed with confectioner toppings to make it look like a log filled with snow.

The history of this delicious yule log dates back to the ancient times during the Celtic Brits and Gaelic European who prepare this to welcome the winter solstice at the end of December. Families would then gather to burn logs decorated with pinecones. After the logs were burned, they are kept and believed to have medicinal benefits and can ward evil away. Today, the yule log is present in every household every season.

The Traditional Christmas Ham

This dish will never go missing in every table this Christmas and holiday season. They are slow-cooked and glazed in brown sugar. Ham are prepared in different ways this Christmas depends on the tradition. Some people add pineapple to add sweetness to the meat or ginger beer to the marinade. Regardless of what the recipe is, however, families across the world find this dish to be a treat. The Christmas Ham is actually originated from the English Yule Ham while the tradition started from the Germans.

The Christmas Cookie

You must be familiar with the Gingerbread. The Gingerbread originated in the Crusades and was originally made using breadcrumbs, boiled with honey and seasoned heavily with spices. It was pressed onto cookie boards carved slabs of wood with religious designs and dried. There are many traditional cookies around the world like the cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger who started in the medieval times. Cookies are wonderful and could be shared to friends and neighbors. Our modern Christmas cookies date backs to the medieval times.
