**From comedy to seeing the reality of their country**

I was the president of a comedy series to become a brave President of a country.

Volodimir Zelenski the former comedian who became the president of Ukraine and now faces Russian force.

The 44-year-old is a former actor and comedian. He rose to fame thanks to a TV show called Servant of the People.

In the drama series Zelenski played the role of a schoolteacher who was elected president almost by chance. The story unfolds after one of his students recorded and went viral on social media when the teacher gave a speech against corruption in the country.

The character portrayed by the president gained popularity among viewers and the plot represented, as a joke, the problems that Ukraine was really experiencing.

In 2019, his life changed radically. He put aside his artistic skills and ran for the Ukrainian presidency.

The producers of Servant of the people decided to support the comedian and created a political party with the same name as the series.

The actor was emerging as a favourite even before he announced his political candidacy.

His campaign focused on social media and he won the second round of the 2019 elections with 72% of the votes.

With his triumph, many doubted the seriousness of the new president to take the reins of the country. His promises focused on fighting corruption, despotism and providing the country with new and different leadership.

Now he is demonstrating courage and pride in his country, saying in one of his statements that he is ''not afraid to defend his country'' in the face of Russia's current invasion of Ukraine.

He is undoubtedly worthy of respect and admiration because he is synonymous with a love for his country and the will to fight.
