**21 March: World Down Syndrome Day**
21st March decreed by the UN as World Down Syndrome Day.
Simplicity, love, patience, intelligence and courage towards life are the characteristics of these special beings who are sensitive and at the same time can be irritating. But their great heart of love is shown by their innocent look.
While society labels them as handicapped because of the syndrome they suffer from.
Down syndrome was discovered in 1959 as a chromosomal disorder and it is estimated that one in 733 babies is born with the condition.
According to the International Down Syndrome Association, this year's motto is: ''Inclusion means'' Opportunity and benefits that gives you the right to participate in various activities and attend the same places to enjoy as ordinary people.
If we are talking about opportunities and inclusion, we can mention the beautiful
Sofia Jirau, the first woman with Down syndrome to be a Victoria's Secret model.
This Puerto Rican model was not impediment her condition of the syndrome to dream and conquer the catwalks, the new achievement for her is that she is the first woman with Down syndrome to participate in this campaign for the well-known brand Victoria's Secret.
Sofia, who is 24 years old, has now become a worldwide trend and her smile and her personality have conquered the world.
Since she was a child, Sofia wanted to be a model and a businesswoman. Today she has achieved both dreams and is very proud of it.
In 2019 she launched her own product line of clothing and accessories known as ''Alavett''. The name comes from her way of pronouncing ''I love it''.
''Alavett is my shout of joy to the world'' said Sofia.
She also wants to keep on conquering dreams, for which her next project is to dance on stage and model in France and Italy.
There is no doubt that in order to achieve your dreams you need to have self-confidence and discipline, no matter where you see yourself or the conditions. To want is always to be able to.
Sofia is an example of success and triumph despite her Down syndrome condition.
I have fallen in love with this beautiful and loving heart.
