As at 11th of February 2020, Desmond was walking home from our meeting place (an eatery not too far away from his residence), he was accosted by two shabby looking guys.
They demanded for his phone and money. Being so afraid, he hurriedly handed his phone and money over to them.
The leader of the gang tried to access the phone in order to have Desmond unlock the phone if there is any screen lock he had activated prior to the encounter. However after Desmond unlock the phone, the gang saw something that…
Desmond Charles is a good friend of mine. We’ve known each other since we were 11. I always admire him for his intelligence, good looks and sense of humor. When we were little, we were so confident that we would become professional artists someday.
However when we turned 20, our passions drifted from art to science and technology. During our college days, Desmond took interest in cryptocurrency after some female student taught him the ropes. I had earlier told him about cryptocurrency way back in 2012 but he dismissed my explanation abruptly and labelled the cryptocurrency business an “outright scam project”. It then made me wonder what the female student had said to him to win him over. Well, I guess girl power did the magic!
Desmond instantly became a Bitcoin Cash evangelist after learning about the many juicy offers BCH has in store. One time, he called me to give his opinion about the infrastructure funding plan (IFP), yes! I heard about the IFP through him much to my amazement since it was coming from someone that didn’t display interest in crypto at first.
We rendezvoused at an eatery to catch up on old times and discuss on varieties of topics ranging from family, investments (a likely joint partnership on adopting bitcoin cash in a food business we intend to start) and future massive crypto projects. We journeyed on the road of bitcoin cash stopping by to visit the IFP, bitcoin cash merchants’ adoption, bitcoin price predictions in 2020 and finally arrived at the bitcoin cash node project. It was one bliss of a night. We ate to our full and fully peeled off the skin of the topics we decided to discuss about.
It was now time to retire to our various places of abode and we bade each other goodbye. The time was 7:00 pm on the 11th of February 2020. As Desmond was walking home from our meeting place (an eatery not too far away from his residence), he was accosted by three shabby-looking guys. They demanded for his phone and money. On seeing that these guys were armed, he got so afraid and hurriedly handed his phone and money to them.
The leader of the gang tried to access the phone in order to have Desmond unlock the phone if there is any screen lock he had activated prior to the encounter. However after Desmond unlocked the phone, the gang leader saw something that caught his interest. Desmond had finished executing a bitcoin cash transaction but didn’t close the page, so the gang leader was able to see it. He requested to know what it actually is since he was clueless about the crypto business and the transaction interface looked quite attractive.
Desmond got calm and summarily explained the ‘modus operandi’ of the bitcoin cash blockchain to them in 55 minutes approx. They were marveled about the tipping aspect of earning some cryptos at least for the mere reason that they will get tipped doing little or no unlike the physical cash where you will have to work so hard and beg consistently to get tipped. Desmond finally gave them some videos to watch so as to expand their knowledge about bitcoin cash and cryptocurrency generally and they were so grateful for that. They handed the phone back to him but they still took his money citing the reason as being a little investment into their new found business, cryptocurrency business. Desmond couldn’t believe the encounter as he slept that night.
The following day, he narrated the bitter-sweet ordeal to me and I wasn’t even sure whether to laugh or sympathize with him for the loss of money and a near psychological trauma since he said he was scared to death when he saw the weapons. I eventually hailed his courage for taking out time to explain stuff to them. I also remembered saying that he has done his part and the bitcoin cash host of angels will reward him bountifully and so it is left for the robbers to utilize the information they’ve in possession. It is not the pieces of advice or lectures that matters rather it is what we do with it that matters greatly.
