There are several browsers in our world today, enabling us the opportunity to readily access tons of information daily on the internet. However, these mobile browsers have their pros and cons, from security to functionality to speed to what not. We all have used and still using so many browsers such as opera mini, internet explorer, UC browser, safari, Mozilla Firefox, puffin browser, phoenix browser amongst others. One thing to note in all these browsers is that they don’t avail you the opportunity to make money from your browsing endeavors. Their business model is originally designed to allow you browse the internet with ease while keeping track of your browsing interests so as to display targeted adverts to you thus making several millions of dollars $$$ but giving you $0.
Fortunately, with the emergence of Brave browser, new features that was obviously absent in early browsers were added to the brave browser for a wonderful browsing experience. We are going to look at these features shortly.
Before we look at the features of brave, let’s take a look at the brief history of brave;
Brave is developed by the brave software, which was founded by the CEO Brendan Eich and the CTO Brian Bondy on 28th may 2015. The first version of brave browser with an ad-blocking feature was launched by the brave software on 20th January 2016. They went ahead to announce plans for a privacy-respecting ad feature and a revenue sharing program.
We will look at four interesting features of the brave browser that makes it stand out among the rest. The last feature, i.e. the fourth feature will be our main interest.
The features of the browser includes;
Fast browsing: The fast browsing feature is achieved by blocking trackers and intrusive ads that potentially slows down browsing speed. Cluttered websites with heavy graphics also load with considerable time thereby erasing frustrations due to loading time.
Secure browsing: This feature consciously blocks harmful advertising and redirects sites to HTTPS using HTTPS Everywhere. HTTPS stands for “Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure”, a secure version of the standard “hypertext transfer protocol” your desired web browser uses when communicating with websites. To safely keep the sensitive information you usually type online such as login details, credit card pin, bio data etc. the brave browser redirects the sites you visit to https.
Privacy: This feature blocks tracking pixels and tracking cookies. While cookies might sound like a good web feature, since it save some frequently typed info for you so you won’t have to type it every time, some geeks have taken advantage of this. They (geeks) use the cookies to track your activities without your consent and steal your sensitive information. The brave browser privacy feature has curtail these dangerous tracking activities while keeping your information safe at all times.
Revenue sharing: In January 2019, brave browser team launched its brave ads platform and promises to share 70% of the ad revenue with its users for their attention while the remaining 30% goes to the brave team for maintenance. The CEO, Brendan Eich asserted that is confident about the business model of the brave browser revenue sharing feature. In 2019, he asserted that users can earn over $70 per year using the browser but that’s for users that opt-in to view ads through the brave browser. To view the brave ads, users are required to enable the brave rewards by going to the main brave settings page at “(brave://rewards/)”. Once a user opts into the brave rewards, they are presented with offers in the form of notifications. On clicking these notifications, they will be directed to a full page ad in a new ad tab.
You can also earn BAT as a website owner. If you are a website owner, it gets more interesting because you can register as a verified brave publisher and thereafter receive BAT tips from your web visitors. However, your web visitors must visit your website before they would be able to send you BAT tips. All the user has to do is to activate the auto-contribute feature so as to tip their earned rewards to their favorite websites or content creators.
Users and publishers will both be paid out in the basic attention token (BAT), which has a native wallet built into the browser. Since the size of the BAT payouts are actually tied to the price of BAT, Eich predicted that net user revenue could reach as high as $320 in 2020. If you are consistent with the browser, your BAT earnings might surpassed the $320 predicted by the CEO himself.
Also, users can earn BAT without clicking ads. Sounds interesting right? Well, the brave team added this feature in early 2020, January precisely. On January 15 2020, the brave team announced via blog post that users will be able to earn BAT by simply viewing images in the brave browser – without clicking on the ads and it is under the title “sponsored images”. This feature is new and thus brings an extra source of revenue for users and support the BAT ecosystem.
The brave browser can be used both on android and on your desktop or laptop computers. All the features are included both on android and computer. You can download the brave browser app on your android phone and into your computer right from the brave official website at brave com
Summarily,
You earn bat (Basic Attention Token) from the brave browser in three practical ways viz;
a. Viewing ads on the brave browser.
By clicking sponsored ads on the brave browser platform after you must have opt-in to view ads in the “settings” tab.
b. Viewing sponsored images
By viewing sponsored images under the “sponsored images” tab.
c. Earning BAT as a website owner
Earn BAT when your site visitors who are also brave browser users, tips you with some amount of BAT to show their appreciation for putting up great content on your website.
Conclusion:
The brave browser no doubt is a browser with super cool features and “netizens” are embracing it with both arms. The truth is, everyone is constantly looking for new ways to make money online and that’s why so many people will prefer the brave browser to other early browsers. You can rake in some reasonable amount of money monthly if you use it frequently for all your browsing endeavors. However, it shouldn’t be your major means of earning BAT crypto income, rather it is best to see it as one of your side income means. Even if the money you realized from the brave browser won’t get you a Lamborghini, it is quite interesting since practically, you get paid for browsing the internet which no other browser has actually avail you such opportunity to do so. You can give it a shot today.
