Dear Small Business Owners

I know it feels good to have your friends patronising you. It feels great to have your family members purchase what you sell but what if they don't.

Stop being sentimental or emotional about it.

What if they don't need what you sell or the services you render.

What if they have other vendors they are loyal to. Vendors that came before you and also delivers quality just like you do or even more

What if you or your product isn't trustworthy

What if there are other ways they can support your business other than buy from you.

Just don't feel entitled to their money or patronage simply because they are "your people " instead seek to earn their trust. Don't try to manipulate or force anyone to buy from you.

Don't start a business because you think your family and friends will buy from. If the only customer base you can see are your close friends or family members then you will go out of business too soon. Something like "gone too soon "

Focus on building a robust customer base that's bigger and larger than your family and friends list.

Remember that at the end of the day, you still have to treat your business as a business that it really is and not some child's play or amusement park.

Even if your family and friends should patronize you, make sure they pay for the goods bought or services rendered to them.

That way you stay focused and serious about your progress and success in your business.

Think outside the box.

Thanks for reading!

See you on the next one!
