We conquer the whole world before we get out of bed April 27, 2022. No. 227 One more page takes shape with that state of grace of someone who enters a mystery that magnetizes him. Life accustoms us to exist and we stop seeing the magic that surrounds us, the miracle of human communication. I can assess this better from the moment of giving reasons, feelings, thinking of that someone (you) that in an unknown instant that will come (this one in which you read) you will receive my signals. What are you like? With what words to give me better? Will I really be able to touch you? I don't know your silhouette, your horizons, your winters, but I dream of your eyes eager for unruly reflections, animating the infinite labyrinths of intelligence and love (if true intelligence is not love in itself) and that makes me see you and even feel you. We are not as far apart as time and space might make you think. We are connected by the inexplicable or ineffable that is in the human soul and its thirst to find shelter in another being. We conquer the whole world before getting out of bed, says a verse by Fernando Pessoa, with a skepticism that I don't blame; when you look at this primitive modernity with the eyes of a poet, there is not much desire left to attack tomorrow. But there is a saying that warns us: nothing has been written about cowards, and another: whenever it rains, it clears. We are not one of those who cross our arms, perhaps because we inhabit an island that specializes in doing the impossible; also, in the last case, we would sing with Carlos Varela: And I know with which songs I want to make a revolution, Even if I'm left without a voice even if they don't come to listen to me even if they leave me alone like Jalisco Park. Of course, a lover of justice is never alone, nor will the imperial fog be eternal; The poet Bladimir Zamora already says: do not underestimate the possibilities of purity. We, dreamers, know that, as such, we will have to endure the theories elaborated to disillusion us (that we are utopians, that we do not have our feet on the ground, that social justice was an impossible project, that we learn from the fall of the Berlin wall, that the market is a natural law, and the like). To those who use these "intelligent" arguments, we can say that we are not acting only because we are convinced that the planet cannot withstand the aggression and inequality to which it is subjected for much longer, but also because of a problem of vital concept; As Romain Rolland wrote: What is believed must be defended. Whatever our strength, it is forbidden to abdicate. In this world, the smallest has a duty, the same as the largest. And—something he doesn't know—he also has a power. Do not think that your isolated rebellion is in vain! A strong conscience, and one that dares to assert itself, is a power. It is not that our chances of making a fully equitable global society are closer or more distant, it is that, as Emma Goldman said: when we can't dream anymore, we die. The one who sees the storm and shrugs his shoulders is worthy of pity; one who prefers to let himself be carried away by the current, and lock himself in (and for) himself, hanging his illusions on the shore of his past. There is no other option but to conspire for human solidarity. As Martí exclaimed: The knees of all men who bend them weigh heavily on the heart of the honest genius!
