Everyone has experienced regret, without exception.

Have you ever felt regret when you made a decision? I'm sure you've experienced it.

Starting from decisions that may seem simple, to those that are so important in your life right now.

Like choosing the wrong major, the wrong opportunity, to sticking with the wrong person and it turns out to be useless, ever?

It doesn't stop there, you too must have finally experienced a disappointment due to a failure that occurred because of an error when deciding at the beginning.

This is a small part of the journey in your life that has made you disappointed, embarrassed, and angry with yourself which has accumulated into a prolonged regret.

Then your mind will be filled with a million reasons, “I wish I didn't choose that”, “I wish I had taken the offer”, and various if reasons that just made you confused.

Wanting to be angry with yourself all the time, feels even sadder, wanting to forgive and make peace with yourself, it's very difficult because the feeling of regret is silent and doesn't want to go.

So it's not surprising if the registration is in the front and the regret comes later, but is it natural for regret to happen?

It's perfectly natural, and does every regret mean bad? I don't think regret is always bad. well on this occasion I will write a review about REGRET.

What is Regret?

Before discussing further regret, here I want to explain first what is meant by regret.

Regret is an emotion that gives direction to a behavior, which can be described when an expectation that we have does not match the reality that happened.

Regret can also provoke feelings of sadness that arise due to stimuli from memories or unpleasant experiences that you are currently experiencing, for example when you are stressed due to the wrong choice of major in college.

Even though the stress is about the wrong major, without realizing it, your brain is presumptuous and even remembers an incident in the past, where you could have chosen another major at that time and unconsciously came out with a statement from within.

"Why didn't I go to school there before?"

Regret according to research that I've read also has two characteristics, namely long-term and short-term regret.

Short-term regrets can arise from mistakes you make, such as when you make a mistake that makes you punished by a teacher or lecturer, eventually, you become sorry for doing it again, this regret is often experienced by us.

Why is it called short term generally it doesn't last long while long-term regret often arises from actions that you don't do such as regret because you never tried it, then a myriad of "If ..." statements arise in your mind.

It's much more memorable when you try and fail later on, than when you don't try at all, .

Said a wise man, "Failure is a delayed success", so when you fail, regret it because it's natural, but just enough.

Then get up to keep trying again and again, because Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's best footballer has experienced failure in his career but because of his hard work, he rose from failure, he was able to become what he is today.

Indeed you are not Cristiano Ronaldo but you don't have to be him, you simply become the best version of yourself before.

Regret is natural for you to experience, but don't let the regret that you feel drags on and stays inside.
