how hard it is to be HARDWORKING?
Filipinos are known to be hardworking, very diligent, and trustworthy. Many foreign countries would like to hire Filipino workers because of our quality work outcome. If you are not from the Philippines or never meet a Filipino so this article is a glimpse of how we are as a person and how we do job.
Asian as we are, we value family so much above all. Family for us is not just being tied in blood but we always go beyond that. We treat our work place as home as our co-workers and boss as family. When you are working with a Filipino you often get to be asked "have you eaten yet?" , "how was your day?" , "is there something bothering you?" , "how are you today?" , "Common let's grab a lunch together" , "I cooked lunch and I have some for you", these are just some of the statements you may encounter. This is how we give quality work, by doing our job as if we are with our family.
While the other country starts their class at 9 am, we start ours at 6 am
Yes, we are highly trained to be a morning person since we are in pre-school. In the Philippine school starts at 7 am so students should be at school as early as 6 am. This applies to both public and private school, in almost all levels of education. See, we don't often get late. We are trained to make up and start our day as early as that.
We might be in a third world country and yet still having hard time catching up with the advancements our the world but it is also very evident that we don't fail to impress the world with our hard work. Filipinos are quite in demand to other foreign countries because of these qualities. To be more personal, looking back at how I manage to be a full time college student, a working scholar, and a full time employee was a quite a task for me everyday but I manage to learn to be flexible and responsible.
I never put a limit to my dream...
To have a dream to be one of those who are wearing scrubs with stethoscope is a quite a great challenge for a dreamer that belongs to low income family. I needed to get a scholarship, I needed to maintain grades, and I needed to earn, lastly I needed to do those things continuously without a pause. I can't lose any of what I have right now. We can't just blame the whole world why we are being born poor, it won't fix the problem.
See, no one was born naturally hard worker, we got to cope with our environment. It is a developed ability and it took a lot of effort to master it. I have experience not sleeping for days because I have lessons to study and it conflicts with my schedule of work. There are times I forgot if I have eaten lunch, or have when was the last time I took a pause.
I have experience crying in the library because my body and mind was too tired but I need to push my self to study because I have exams on that afternoon. I have experienced falling asleep at the library unconsciously because my body can no longer handle the stress, and I woke up I am the last person in the library. I have experience studying in my workplace for me to cover all my back logs. Time is really gold to me, I can't afford to waste a second. Everything is fast phasing in my life and I needed to be competent enough to get through it.
It has been three years since I am doing this one, I won't lie there was a time I just want to give up everything and quit. There was a time that my body can no longer take it and I have experienced multiple break downs in a day. My emotions were uncontrollable and my mind was restless. I took some time to break and I let myself take a breath, I face myself in front of a mirror and I asked myself "If I will give up today, will my future self forgive me?"
I pull myself up again, and get back to my tract. I might be having a very difficult time but one thing is for sure all the hard works are truly worth it. See, being hard working requires a lot of hard work.
