Dream can Drain
Not because we are living our dream does not mean we cannot experience distress.
Most of us might have dreams, I say most because I know some of us are still figuring things out about ourselves. The odds are not always even, and as we try to reach our dreams the odds become against us and opportunity is running away from us. Having a dream is not a walk-in park or a branded shirt you can wear to make everyone see you have a plan in life. Having a dream will make you question life. Having a dream will make you cry. Having a dream will crash you down. Having a dream, at some point, makes you insane.
This is the reality that we should understand that behind all the academic awards of that person we know is a litter of caffeine and a night of unstoppable anxiety. They sleep with their minds awake and wake up with self-doubts that they need to fight again and again. Reaching dreams is not just about acing a school year for them, reaching dreams is to be consistent.
The road to our dreams is not wide and direct. It is rocky, it is alone, it is sad, it is hurting, and it is survival. Before one become a doctor he was once a farmer before one becomes a surgeon he was a service crew before one become a psychologist she was a call center agent, and before someone become the person they wanted to be they played a lot of roles that were out of their will and interest.
So I am telling you this it is okay that you're job right now is way too far from the dream job that you want or way too far from your dream. Keep your heads up and focus on your goal. Have a good cry when things are tough, you are doing a favor for yourself by that.
With all the blood and sweat and hell you have endured, mind that there is more than that ahead. The road toward our dream is never-ending, and there will be challenges that will make us strong but will break us first. In that process, you feel bad for yourself, please love yourself more during that time. Be kind to yourself.
This is the price of having a dream. I salute you for hanging in there. You deserve to be credited for your efforts. Pulling yourself in a time of downfall is more than a challenge, it feels like bringing the dead to life.
Young people, please don't get afraid to pursue whatever you dream of because you read this. If this makes you feel furious, it's okay because when you will enter adulthood life will make you feel that way almost every day. I want you to be ready because reaching dreams do not happen overnight. There is no magic in progress, and progress does not mean each day you will win, and winning is not the mere indication of progress. Don't be afraid to fail, and try again. Don't be afraid to get red marks. Don't be afraid of what will happen next.
Again, life will not always be in our favor. Dreams will drain us to death, so be sure to survive.
