Gulf Business Machines (GBM) has formed a partnership with Ankabut in order to carry out the first installation of an Internet Service Provider (ISP) Control Desk in the UAE's educational sector.

It is anticipated that the newly developed solution known as REACH will assist educational institutions in lowering their expenditures on IT support and adopting service management capabilities without the burden of hosting it, thereby improving the level of service provided to students and faculty.

Miguel Khouri, General Manager of GBM in Abu Dhabi and Yemen, stated that "When Ankabut came to GBM with the request to implement a multi-tenant service desk for better visibility of their network, infrastructure, applications and assets, we knew this was a great opportunity to create an innovative solution that would be a game-changer in the UAE education sector." Ankabut came to GBM with the request to implement a multi-tenant service desk for better visibility of their network, infrastructure, applications and assets We proposed a one-of-a-kind solution called "Control Desk as a Service," which is based on IBM's Control Desk. This solution offers a scalable multi-tenancy offering of integrated services management and end-user self-service capabilities, and it can be accessed via the web as well as mobile devices. We are overjoyed to have Ankabut on board to assist in the deployment of this solution, and we are certain that it will be of significant use to the educational community in this area.

According to GBM, REACH will make it possible for Ankabut to standardise the processes involved in the management of IT services across all of the connected academic institutes and universities. In addition, now that the new deployment is live, Ankabut is able to offer its subscribers a more comprehensive selection of support services via a solution that is scalable.

Ankabut's Chief Executive Officer, Fahem Al Nuaimi, was quoted as saying, "Ankabut was looking for a service desk that can both satisfy the company's current requirements and accommodate an increased future capacity." Ankabut made the decision to work with GBM because of the firm's established track record in the implementation of IBM products and services, as well as its robust presence and reputation in the GCC. The solution was delivered on time and within the specified scope and budget thanks to the company's project management methodology, which included an excellent reporting system and regular project updates.

"The IBM Control Desk has assisted in enhancing the effectiveness of our support system, which has enabled us to raise the level of satisfaction felt by the universities with which we collaborate." The statement was made by Mr. Qutaiba Al Hammadi, Manager of Application Development & Delivery for Ankabut. "We will continue to collaborate with GBM to meet our future strategic initiatives with IT," he said.

Client privileges and permissions will be controlled by the REACH service desk, and they will be distributed to clients according to the requirements and services they require. An approach centred on ITIL has also been incorporated in order to facilitate the simple and precise management of the services provided by a wide variety of educational institutions.
