I've been in this game a long time...
So I've been in the crypto community for a long time, I'm talking before the Mtgox exchange hack when there was no need for BTC to fork to BCH and Gavin was the lead in BTC development. I was much young at the time (like 16 years old) and had made Bitcoin my everything. I preached about it endlessly to my family and friends, told everyone I knew that this was going to be the future of currency and level the playing field for the average human when it comes to finance and banking.
When BTC was basically bought by blockstream and its constituents I was pissed. How could so many lead devs sell out from the original objective of Satoshi to provide a universal means of exchange for humanity, to selling the own 2nd layer solution to the public as the only way to scale Bitcoin. The UASF was an example of just how malicious these devs had become. Just remembering the posts I had read from some of the devs like Luke-jr and Peter Todd were insane, the toxicity and lies that spewed from them was madness and clearly an indicator that they had been corrupted.
So when BCH forked off of BTC, I was in support of it 100%. This, to me, was the closer to the idea that had been envisioned to Satoshis than BTC had become and now as we've seen, BTC has transitioned to "becoming a store of value" rather than it's original purpose. Thankfully we have great people that have invested their own blood, sweat, and tears into keeping the vision alive. I cannot thank you guys enough.
I truly believe that BCH is going to prevail in the long term and we need to continue to inform people that this is the cheaper means of exchange, more true to its original design, and the currency the world really needs to benefit all of humanity. Support our devs, and all the interesting projects that keep popping up in the ecosystem to make this dream a reality!
