Cognitive Development In A Child: What Every Parent Should Know.
The topic I will write about today is about the cognitive development of the child
1. From birth, babies can analyze everything around them using their own senses. From birth, most babies can focus on any object or human face or follow when an object moves (for a short time), babies can hear and understand different sounds, babies can see color and color brightness and different Understand. In addition, babies do a lot of the expected things, such as - the baby understands the smell of breast milk and tries to eat.
A 3 to 4 week old baby will smile or smile when he hears his mother's voice and will stop crying. In the early stages the baby cries in any uncomfortable situation and over time the baby will cry in different situations for specific reasons (hunger, pain and fatigue).
2. Babies will quinine at 6 to 8 weeks of age. This means that the baby will make different sounds without crying and in the mouth. Babies one to three months old will babble. This means that the child will say words that have no meaning. E.g., a, o.
3. Babies one to three months old can laugh out loud. Basically, looking at the face of another, the child will smile and see no incident. At this time the children's attention and growth increases
4. Babies up to three months old can recognize the faces of close people (caregivers / family members), imitate the facial expressions of others (you smile, baby and laugh) and the baby will respond with familiar words.
5. Babies between the ages of three and six months will be able to pronounce vowels or consonants - e.g., da da da, o o o, or ba or ba. Respond to words and try to imitate words. The child will smile looking at his picture in the mirror.
6. A six-month-old baby can understand what is going on around him. This means that the child will be able to recognize his parents, like to hear his own words, the child will be frightened when he sees strangers, the child will be able to distinguish between living and inanimate objects. The child will understand that if the child throws an object, he will be able to pick it up again.
7. Children between the ages of four and seven months will be able to understand their own names. The child will hear and see his own name.
8. Babies six to nine months old will occasionally say mother. Children will listen and try to imitate it through sound.
9. At the age of nine months, the baby tries to grasp the properties of any object. Babies can understand the word "no" after nine months. Besides, when the children learn to understand, an object could not be seen and the object is still there. It is called Object Permanence in English.
10. Nine-year-olds behave differently, to see what the parents' reaction is. Such as throwing toys on the floor. Children remember this reaction and want to see the same behavior over and over again to see if the parents give the same reaction again.
11. Separation anxiety is seen inside the baby at the age of nine months. This means that the baby becomes frightened, cries and gets excited when it does not see the parent or primary caregiver.
12. Babies aged nine to twelve months can understand simple instructions. (For example, if you say "Give the doll", the child will give the doll.) Children learn to make fun.
13. A 12-month-old or one-year-old baby can follow a fast moving object. The child can say two to four words, imitate the animal's sound, the child's attachment to the object is created (favorite toy or favorite pillow).
What can parents do for the cognitive development of the child?
1. Talk to your baby. It doesn't matter if the child understands or not. Your child will be calm in your words and will later help your child to learn words in these words. I have seen many mothers and fathers speak vaguely to their children (such as ole baba) or say different words instead of correct words (such as calling water mam). These issues do not help the child to pronounce the words correctly, on the contrary, delay the child's speech.
2. Who will respond when the child makes a word (meaningless word or meaningful word). How to respond? Imitate the kind of word (sound) that the child is making with the mouth. It will help the child to learn the language.
3. Read books to the child. It will also help the child to learn the language or sound.
4. Listen to rhymes and songs. And occasionally do different behaviors or gestures with the hands. For example, if you say palm tree, point your finger away. Listen to rhymes or songs in Bengali language.
5. Use Bangla words when teaching words to a child. Use English words only if all family members speak English. The child can learn words faster if he is taught the words spoken by the people around him.
6 . Praise the baby. For example, did Humaira catch the ball beautifully?
7 . Take the baby in your arms. Hug the baby. It will give the baby a sense of security and love.
8. Play with the baby according to age. Notice that the child is feeling tired or uncomfortable. Give the baby a chance to relax if he feels tired. Take a break from the game for a while.
9. The child needs to be distracted with a toy or with a rhyme or song when it comes to catching something that is not safe.
For the safety of the child, always remember that if the child does not do any work according to the age, then you must consult a pediatrician or psychologist.
Many times our acquaintances or family members say, "Her father also spoke late, walked late, and she will be fine". There is nothing to pay attention to these words all the time. Because what happened to one person all the time is not what happened to my child. And if action is taken late, it will be too late to fix the problem
Thanks.
It's a good thing that parents learn this before or during early parenthood so they'll be able to strategize more how to take care of their children
