Unpopular opinion about donations at BCH
I have a few words to say about donations in the Bitcoin Cash community. I find it great that there is a willing spirit to improve Bitcoin Cash in every way, both technically supporting application developers and nodes. It is also very important to support the initiatives and go strong in increasing the Branding of Bitcoin Cash as a brand, I think that it is essential that there are marketing campaigns promoting the use of Bitcoin Cash as electronic cash peer-to-peer.
The point I want to address is about donations that do not contribute anything to either Bitcoin Cash or the lives of the people who receive them. I'm talking about donating to food programs like EatBCH. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the good intentions of this show. But my fundamental objection is that it simply does not contribute anything to any of the parties involved. The one who donates on behalf of BCH believes that he is leaving Bitcoin Cash high, however I do not see the glory or contribution that the fact that the name of Bitcoin Cash has to that of people in situations of economic fragility with a bag of food . How is this supposed to contribute BCH? Worse still, after finishing that meal, how have these people benefited? Are they really using BCH or are they just waiting for the next donation? I'm not criticizing anyone's work or intentions, but this donation model is definitely not contributing to society or Bitcoin Cash.
I believe that a model of direct donations could be advanced to people who really want to change their lives and add value to society. Initiatives of small businesses or microentrepreneurs which accept and spread the value of Bitcoin Cash, people who do not have the capital to start or grow their businesses. Small entrepreneurs. In this way, both parties would be earning equally and BCH could be projected as a cryptocurrency that generates changes in people's lives. EatBCH can join this model by organizing its beneficiaries who may have a trade, profession or skill to create a small production unit or business that accepts BCH. This would be a real change in the giving model and an important contribution to adoption.
good critique, thx for sharing
