When news broke that Chelsea was interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Premier League took a shocking turn for the Gunners. And it appears that the former Arsenal player might deal the fans of the north London team a double blow if he joins Chelsea. Barcelona won't sell both Memphis Depay and Aubameyang this summer, claims Matt Law of the Telegraph. One of them will be allowed to depart, though.

Depay has been linked to Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta's team would benefit from having him on board. Aubameyang's transfer to Chelsea, a rival team, might, however, scupper any agreement Edu had in mind. Thomas Tuchel is reportedly negotiating with Todd Boehly to sign Aubameyang because he is seen as the ideal striker, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. Barcelona hasn't yet received a formal proposal, despite this.

The Gunners are contemplating a move for Barcelona striker Depay, according to a report from the Spanish outlet Fichajes published two months ago. At Camp Nou, the Dutchman has lost favor ever since Xavi became the club's manager. The aforementioned Romano claims that Barcelona and Depay's attorneys are negotiating for Depay to be free to sign with another team. If he can find a great new team, he is willing to move on.

Depay would be a terrific acquisition for Arsenal, but a stronger striker will also need to be added in the summer to serve as a winger or backup front. And Edu appears to be considering this in light of Arsenal's capture of Jesus.

Jesus' arrival notwithstanding, Edu still needs to strengthen Arteta's options during the summer transfer window. Throughout the course of the season, Eddie Nketiah and Jesus will require more goal help from other parts of the field. Gabriel Jesus was acquired by Arsenal from Manchester City, and in the early parts of his Gunners career, he has been a revelation. In his first five preseason games with the team, the Brazilian has seven goals. Jesus has been used as a striker by Mikel Arteta during the preseason. His most recent remarks regarding the new acquisition, though, imply that he also intends to utilize him during the season in a different wing position role. However, another forward must be signed to give depth in addition to Eddie Nketiah in order for the Spaniard to open this option. By acquiring Memphis Depay from Barcelona, the Gunners have been offered an inexpensive opportunity to accomplish this.

Arteta stated of Jesus, "His adaptability is well recognized. He is now being used as a nine. He is capable of playing both the left and right wings. As we did in preseason, you can play with two forwards and slightly alter the shape. He offers us a great deal of leeway.

Depay would undoubtedly be a terrific addition for the Gunners, but Aubameyang's unexpected switch to Chelsea may make any deal between Arsenal and the Dutchman unlikely.
