Self-doubt is the absolute classic when it comes to building your independence.

I am not good enough. I will never be able to do this. I can't do it.

Do you also have that nasty little voice in the back of your head that keeps talking you down?

Robbing you of all energy, motivation, and drive?

I know that you have it. And how do I know that?

Because we all have it.

Every one of us has self-doubt. And every successful woman you admire from afar and think is full of self-confidence has it too.

Not everyone likes to admit them, but everyone has them.

So the first illusion I want to steal from you is that you are alone in this.

What really separates the others from you? You don't let those voices get you down.

Everyone hears them now and then, but most of them gradually develop a strategy to deal with them.

So the second illusion I can take away from you today is: You will never get rid of them completely.

Learn to deal with them, learn to live with them, and learn not to let them take control.

THE SELF-DOUBT PATCH: GIVE YOURSELF TIME-OUTS

Most of the time we get self-doubt exactly when we are actually exhausted.

I don't know about you, but when I'm full of power, I rarely have self-doubt. It's the weak moment when self-doubt comes. They can smell it when we're not doing well, and they sneak up behind us.

So don't let it get that far in the first place!

Give yourself enough time off (you'll pay for it anyway if you don't) and make appointments with yourself.

Mark fixed times on your calendar where only you count and the things you love.

Watch a nice movie and cozy up on the couch with popcorn, talk to your girlfriends on the phone, indulge in some spa time in the tub, or do a round of yoga. Whatever makes you happy. But do it.

No excuses, no important "must do's" in a hurry.

Time out. Now.

CREATE A CIRCLE OF BACKUP FIGHTERS.

Just as each of us carries self-doubt, each of us has at least one person in our lives who believe in us unconditionally.

The person who has been telling you to finally take off.

The person who proudly tells everyone what you are doing and planning. That one person who always listens enthusiastically when you tell them what you're going to build next.

That person who believes in you.

Some of us have a few of these, and some of us have just one, but it doesn't matter.

What matters is that you can turn to her in weak moments, pour your heart out to her, and she will wipe away all your self-doubt with a single wave of her hand. Because she knows you and knows that you can do it.

And you damn well can!

However, you should also surround yourself from the beginning with people who have similar dreams as you.

Look for groups, like-minded people, and women who are experiencing and have experienced similar things. That is worth more than I can describe.

SELF-DOUBT-KILLER: FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT

A secret? Almost every successful woman has a good bit of acting down in the beginning. Very few let their insecurity and self-doubt show in the first weeks and months.

I probably exuded absolute self-confidence for the entire first year and actually saw myself fail every day.

Even now I often have self-doubt and wonder if it will all work out, even though I rationally know and firmly believe that it will.

Therefore, you should simply acquire a little fake attitude, especially in the beginning. Sometimes you can even convince yourself with it...

Little Fake Tip:

As silly as it may feel at first, you should sit in front of the mirror every night and tell yourself that you can do it.

The brain wants to be tricked and it doesn't understand that your own reflection is telling you this, but believes that the confirmation comes from the outside. This is pure psychology and it works.

REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED

Write down on a big piece of paper WHY you started, WHY you want to get to that particular point and what you are determined to accomplish.

Your goal has a motivational power like a few other things. That's why it's even more important to clearly define your own WHY right at the beginning.

And now? Do you already feel more encouraged by these tips?

Don't forget that self-confidence is also a muscle that needs to be built slowly at first and then exercised regularly to stay strong.

Create the right habits and actions to strengthen your self-esteem and push your self-doubt further and further into the background.

Which habit do you use from now on?
