When we think of forgiveness, most of us would naturally think of giving it to someone who we feel wronged us.

According to the dictionary Forgiveness means giving up resentment, or granting pardon for or remission of an offense. Being able to forgive is sometimes important and necessary. Forgiveness in relationships, after all, is the ability to let go of grudges, resentment, or hostility.

We've all heard the saying "let bygones be bygones". Forgiveness is such a personal matter that each one of us may have our own way of expressing it in different situations. The definition of forgiveness may also be subjective, depending on the person and their personal convictions. Some people may understand forgiveness as agreeing to forget, while others may see it as giving up revenge.

Are we born as human beings having forgiveness abilities or this is something that we learn?

There are various religious schools of thoughts and philosophies which praise virtues of forgiveness in different ways. Some of them say that forgiveness is something that one should learn while others believe that forgiveness is an ability that one is born with.

The nature and origins of forgiving are hazy and it doesn't seem like there's a definite set of rules to follow. In most cases, forgiving doesn't necessarily mean granting the offender a free ticket from natural consequences or legal repercussions of their actions. Forgiving someone can simply mean letting go of any resentment you hold towards that person. It isn't a form of weakness, but a great strength. It takes courage to forgive and to live in harmony with others.

One of the most important thing in the world is to forgive and be forgiven.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness. We can never forgive unless we know how to forgive, and we can't know how to forgive unless we have been forgiven. Forgiveness is all about love, when we forgive those who sin against us, it frees our mind and spirit from the burden of resentment, it frees our heart from the burden of anger, it frees our body from the burden of hate and it also frees our conscience from the burden of guilt.

A by-product of forgiveness is that you not only become happy but you also ensure that your happiness increases every day. If you have unforgiveness in your heart and mind, your happiness will decrease every day.

There is no need to continue hurting yourself or others over past hurts and mistakes. Just forgive everyone who has hurt you, or mistreated you. The moment you do this your life will start improving in every way possible.
