Enabling ecosystem (Agriculture)
Today myself and a group of other departmental mates went to yinbol college orogun, Ibadan.
We went as agents of change to enlighten the students about agriculture. As engineers we were there to show them why agricultural engineering is important to the society.
They were very attentive and lovely kids that made us feel at home.
When it's first time you tell them about the importance of Agriculture, it's terrifying.
But as you begin telling them about the importance, they get fascinated. "The whole world is looking for food!"
When you hear that, you begin to know that this is not only a field of study, but it's also a field of life.
The kids loved the information we presented to them. Some of them even got inspired and we got their contact to follow up with them.
Briefing them on some agricultural engineering careers, they enjoyed the presentation. Making the presentation on an interactive way, the kids were begging "One more slide, sir."
They asked lots of questions. Some of the questions they asked were quite unique. One question that i remember was, "Can we always live in cities and not go back to the farm again?"
To conclude the presentation I made them a promise that I will be back in 2 weeks to see how they are doing in their agriculture activities and wish them success in their career path.
At the end of the day, it was so fulfilling seeing their faces light up at the idea of growing their own food and eating healthy.
In my opinion, education is key. Creating an enabling ecosystem for them is also important.
The power of communication is amazing.
I hope that we can reach out to many more schools and make a difference in these kids lives.
Thanks for reading 💚💚
