There is an app called Cloaked that is trying to help you stay more secure in your everyday physical and digital life.
What is Cloaked
Cloaked is new to staying safe in this ever-evolving world. You do not have to share your main phone number or your email ever again. Cloaked allows you to create a new number and email anytime you need one.
You can create a new number when you are first meeting new people, you can create a new email when you are not sure about a site you want to sign up to. The possibilities are endless. I am working on building a website and I want a way for people to get ahold of me. I now have a way for people to get ahold of me without risking sharing personal information.
You can make calls, send text messages, and send emails directly from the Cloaked app. When someone calls you it will go through the cloaked app and a notification will come up on your phone saying someone is calling your cloaked phone number. You can also listen to your voicemails and check you're emails and text messages right in the app.
I think Cloaked is one of a kind.
There is a waitlist if you want to sign up and use Cloaked. It only took one day for me to get off the waitlist though.
When you first sign up and log in to the app you will have to remember three questions just in case you forget your password and can not sign in anymore. I suggest saving these and writing them down somewhere safe.
If you are a person who goes out a lot and meets a lot of new people or who signs up for different websites then this is going to come in handy in a big way.
Cloaked calls when you create a new number and new email "creating a new identity". What is awesome about this is that you can create a new identity for every website you sign up to, every new person you meet, and so on.
Conclusion
Your privacy online and in the real world is extremely important. The phone numbers and emails you use for work, fun, family, and shopping should be private and not linked to you in any way unless you are confident with the people and companies you are dealing with.
Cloaked is helping keep your phone number and main email private and allows you to still communicate without having to share your main emails or sharing a google email that is connected to you.
I suggest when you sign up for a new website you are not sure about or meet new people often then why not give Cloaked a try?
Cloaked is free at the moment but I am not sure if it will end up costing money after the Early Access stage.
