There is no perfect married life, even among the Sahabah [companions of the Prophet] there is a quarrel going on between the husband and the wife, until one reaches divorce or separation.
One day, there was a very intense quarrel and quarrel between Abdullah (Son of Omar Bn Al-khattab) and his wife رضي الله عنهما. It took Abdullah out of their house to be able to think properly about what decision he would make. Until she decided to divorce her husband.
But as he was walking outside he heard someone reciting the Qur’an and it was the 19th Ayah in Surah An-Nisa, Qur’an 4:19,
“... And your worthy companionship with your wives is because of love, understanding, and giving them their rights. And IF YOU DON'T WANT THEM ANYMORE FOR WORLDLY REASONS, PATIENCE (the situation), because it is possible that THE THING YOU DON'T WANT WILL BRING A LOT OF GOOD. ”
In this Ayah it is mentioned that there are things or qualities that we do not like in our wives; these things or attributes are worldly things. We should pay more attention to the things we like in our spouses, and if there are things we don’t like we will put up with it and maybe in the future it will bring good.
Just like in Abdullah's story:
After Abdullah heard this Ayah he realized to slow down first in his decision and look at the good things in what was happening.
He made it a signal to go home to their house and treat his wife well.
Abdullah's wife later became pregnant and gave birth to their baby named Salem.
Today, Salem has become Abdullah’s favorite son. Salem was the best scholar of Madina compared to Abdullah’s other sons. And Salem also became the narrator of the Hadith. Salem continued his father’s legacy.
Whenever Abdullah looked at his son Salem, he would say, “Sadaqallah, Sadaqallah” (Allah is telling the truth). -Abdullah almost divorced Salem's mother at the time.
Another of the virtues of Salem is that when she was born, Aisha رضي الله عنها, she ordered her sister to breastfeed Salem so that Aesha would be Mahram to her (she would have a connection with Salem). Also because Aesha wants to teach Salem or be his student.
The supposed separation of Abdullah and his wife gave birth to something very beautiful. If they had separated, their favorite child would not have been born. They continued their marriage.
This absolute is a lesson to us, not to rush into the decision of separation. MAKE THE HALAL RELATIONSHIP FOREVER and always look for the good things in it.
If there is anything bad or disliked in our spouses, we will put up with it and it may cause something very good to happen to us in the future.
