Website rating agency Alexa has published a list of the top 50 websites used by the people of Bangladesh. Of these, 20 are Bangladeshi apps. Of these, 15 are from different newspapers and online news portals.
Syed Almas Kabir, president of BASIS, an organization of software and service products makers, said, "The market for local apps is growing. Many are now interested in creating apps. Those who just made websites are now making apps too. That's a good thing. "
Asked how the local app developers are doing, he said, "Most of the apps being used in the country are made in the country." Our developers have the ability to create world-class apps. They are making apps for the country as well as abroad. ' Ashraf Abir, chief executive of app maker MCC Limited, said, "We started creating apps in 2009. Then I used to make Java and Symbian handsets. From that year we started making apps for Nokia. Then I would make an app for Nokia's Avi Store. About the government's initiative, he said, training is not just for creating apps. Apps should be included as a subject of study at the university level. '
Ashraf Abir further said that at present there is an app market of 500-1 thousand crore rupees in the country. At least 500 government services can be provided through the app. He advised the government to give more importance to providing services to the people through the app.
Industry insiders say the demand for apps for transportation, food services, delivery, etc. is much higher. We think Google is all free. But if a developer wants to get information for the job, he has to pay a hefty sum. But we give information on Google and Facebook. GIS (Geographical Information System) is a resource of a developer. Developers can work with these. Singapore, India and Japan have their own mapping systems like Google. With this initiative, the government can also create a map-based service app like other countries. '
