Two more French soldiers were killed in the Mali operation
Two French soldiers were killed and one was injured in an operation in the African country of Mali. These soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb blast.
The French military says a car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Mali. French troops are conducting military operations against guerrillas in Mali.
President Emmanuel Macron praised the French soldiers for their courage and sacrifice after they were killed.
On August 17, a military coup took place in Mali. The French president has called on the military to return power to the country's civilian government. Mali's President Ibrahim Bubakar Kiyata has been ousted in a military coup.
Guerrillas have been waging violence in Mali since 2012 and most of the country is controlled by guerrillas. France sent troops to Mali in 2013 to fight them. So far 45 French soldiers have been killed there.
