Clashes between the two countries continue in Ladakh. In the meantime, China put India's patience to the test with Arunachal Pradesh. They claim that they have never recognized the existence of Arunachal Pradesh. Instead, they have recognized the area as South Tibet, which is part of their territory.
Five Arunachali youths have recently been abducted by Chinese forces. India has also contacted the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian met with questions in Beijing on Monday. "We have no information about the message received by the Chinese forces about the disappearance of five Indians in the area," he said.
At the same time, Zhao clarified his position on Arunachal. "China has never recognized the so-called Arunachal Pradesh," he said. The area is in southern Tibet, which belongs to China. ā€¯Although Zhao declined to comment, Chinese Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed yesterday that Chinese forces had been contacted.
India has been clashing with Chinese forces in Ladakh since May this year. Diplomatic experts have long feared that China could target Arunachal Pradesh from there. Meanwhile, the news of the disappearance of five youths in Nacho sector of Upper Subansiri district came to light last Saturday.
Congress MLA Ninning Ering said seven young men from the Tagin tribe had gone hunting in the jungle in the area. There, PLA forces abducted five youths from the top-6 area and took them to the other side of the border. The two young men who were with them somehow managed to escape. They returned the news to the villagers.
According to police sources, the youths arrested by the Chinese were Toch Singkam, Prasad Ringling, Dongtu Ebia, Tanu Baker and Garu Diri. John, a family member of the abductees, pleaded with the army to negotiate with the Chinese to bring their sons back quickly. The PLA was then contacted about the matter. But it is far from cooperating with India, but China has provoked conflict again by raising the issue of Arunachal's existence.
